Here with in these four walls
I have traveled to distant lands
fought in many wars
lost friends and caressed the face of death
and lived to talk about it
Here in these pages
I have danced with the prince of Persia
tasted his figs and drank of his wines
and have set sail upon the ocean
in search of treasures that all men seek
fired cannons in the bayous of the deep
south and have had numerous families that have
fostered me with care
among these dusty shelves
between the isles I have found many friends
and to them I bid farewell
for the realities of the world
call to me and there is where
I shall return
yet here with in
the many books
bound by leather
or
bound by wood
my childhood heart
will remain
and to all of you
I shall return again
for with in pages
I have many homes
