Over time you coaxed me out of
the shell I have made my home
One baby step at a time, allowing
me to feel I could take that chance

That chance to feel the warmth of
what my heart has truly missed
Someone to be at my side to share
each morning's magical kiss

Someone who will share that last
good night kiss as they hold me
Allowing me to slip away into a
love swept dream, just us two

To give from the heart, not because
you have to but because you care
The kind of companion, lover and
friend that makes me feel complete

Each realizing that you and I are
different, not seeking to change
For I want to feel I am free to be
me, and I offer the same respect

Will you notice if I have misplaced
my smile, will you lend me yours?
When I accomplish a goal, will you
be able to you stand in my shadow?

Rather then be my boss, couldn't we
be best of friend's, partner's?
Life is tooo short to go through times
of bitterness, of harsh or unkind words

I want to make each day enjoyable, filled
with anticipation for my touch
For my concern, for my smile, for your
hearing me ask, "How was your day"

I'm not seeking perfection, I'm not seeking
you to take you for granted, nor you me
There comes a time in ones life when one
must say, I know what I really want

I know what I am willing to give to someone
who can give to me what I have missed
I don't want a taste of the ecstasy of being
able to touch the stars for a night

I want you, I want happiness, I want to cast
off the winds of doubt, I want to believe
Iwant to believe that if I give all that I have
saved for you, you can do the same

I want to trust, I want to try, I want to make
2006 the year I made a choice and won
I want to be swept away in someone's arms
hearing that long missed "I Love You"

please don't take this the wrong way, raymond, but -
was this a new year's card to someone you like?

it is very sentimental.  a fine line to walk between sentimentality and poetry.
nothing wrong with sentimental, except sentimental usually belongs on hallmark cards.
i'd like to see this sharper and more condensed, filled with fresh images.
spill your guts to me.  visualize.

This was just something I felt many lonely people could identify with.
