Effective today, I have resigned from AIDSMythExposed at MSN Groups, in protest of the moderators' policy of selective censorship of any post which contains information possibly contrary to the moderators' views, while failing to block ad hominem attacks (most egregiously, those posts which accuse a member of being a "fake persuader", a "ringer", or other such accusations.)

It is my strong feeling that such policies do a grave disservice to our whole movement, to the discussion of AIDS-related issues, and furthermore, these policies serve to make us all look like a bunch of paranoid tinfoil hats who refuse to debate relevant issues, and who bury our heads in the sand at the first sign of potentially contrary information.

Insult is added to injury, in that this is the very sort of behavior on the part of the orthodoxy, which causes so many of us to be critical of the orthodoxy.  When our side engages in this sort of behavior, it makes all of us look hypocritical.

Those who agree with my stance on this issue, and wish to register their own opposition to these policies, are encouraged to:

1)  Contact the moderators directly, either through the AME forum, or via email:   [email protected]

2)  Forward this letter to other AME members who might be similarly opposed to these policies.

3)  Resign from AME, and join other dissident forums, if you have not done so already.  I highly recommend the following groups, which do not practice the censorship policies practiced by Rod Knoll and his co-moderators at AME:

I think any group like this one or "AME" should make clear what will be deleted and what will not. I have rejected posts that were just idiotic rants, and also ones which lacked clarity. For the latter, I included a note suggesting that the person resubmit the post after trying to clarify what he/she was claiming, and also I ask for some evidence to support the claim. Sometimes, the "evidence" is almost s a joke, but that's fine because it gives me the opportunity to point this out. My training has led me to believe that it's better to allow faulty claims to be posted, so that I can talk about the flaws in them. Censorship makes no sense, especially today, when anyone can create such a group and make his/her points in a way that might mislead many people. Moreover, I only seek the scientific truth - I have no dogma to maintain.

A couple of my posts to "AME" were not posted a long time ago, when I was trying to point out the role arachidonic acid sems to play. After that, I tried to make my point in more subtle ways. Recently, yet another study supporting my point was published, and I posted that on "AME's" health forum.
