I received a free copy of Cook's Illustrated in the mail yesterday.
What a fantastic magazine!!!
It's only 32 pages, but has NO advertising.
There are recipes, cooking tips, product ratings, a question and answer section, and a review of new cooking equipment.
A 6-issue subscription costs $19.95, but you can get a free copy here www.cooksillustrated.com

I'll post a recipe from the magazine shortly.

Have you ever watched their TV show on PBS, America's Test Kitchen? I enjoy it.

I like Cook's Illustrated, too. Not as crazy about their sister publication, Cook's Country--content is a little uneven.

No, never watched the show, but didn't know it appeared on PBS. I'll have to remember that. America's Test Kitchen. (Sorry, I remember things better when I physcially type them.)

Good to know that Cook's Country doesn't measure up to Cook's Illustrated. I'll skip future offers, should I get them. And I figure I will.

I love America's Test Kitchen!  It's cool because they tell you how different ingredients effect recipes.  They also have those consumer report type things when they are finding the best food processor or the best margarine etc.

There is another PBS cooking show I like....but can't think of the name.  Everyday Cooking or something like that.  No real fancy recipes, just the simple everyday stuff.

Well now, I'm definitely going to have to look for this "America's Test Kitchen" show.
Two endorsements from one cooking enthusianist, and one from someone who I seem to recall stressing over a Thanksgiving turkey a couple of years ago, cements my determination to find and watch this program.

I really like those unbiased consumer report thingies. (Sorry, I could have used a better word, but I figured it got the point across.)

I've seen the show and liked it--used to be broadcast on Saturday here.

Trix, I'll bet that it's Everyday Food--based on the monthly publication. I like that show, too, although not as much as America's Test Kitchen--I LOVE when they test products.
