There's an opening for a Systems Engineer I am applying for. Would you mind looking at my resume and give me some feedback? I'm not all hot about the format, but I don't know what else to do. Do I go too far back in my job history? Should I drop all that AF stuff?
Anyway, the ad for the job says highly developed knowledge and understanding of networking, server and pc operating systems including Cicso and Microsoft - excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills with special attention to details.
Tell me what my resume says that conveys the above and what is missing. Thanks

Sage, I don't pretend to know your industry, so my suggestions are somewhat basic, versus targeted.

First thing, drop "degree not attained." It's more positive to show the # of credits and GPA. By saying that degree isn't completed, you make it seem as though it's NEVER an option for you to complete your degree.

In place of an objective, include a statement that includes your achievements and capabilities (this is also an area that helps to find you via a key word search). This is also the place where you can highlight your suitability for the job, i.e., networking, server, PC Ops, etc.

You need metrics--how much did you save the Company? How quickly was the project implemented?

I'd go back as far as 15 yrs since that covers your most relevant experience. However, you can include the Air Force in a "Prior Experience" category without being so detailed. Put all of your awards under an "Awards" category.

Good luck!
