Final thoughts and good bye - Master*of*None - 4/20/2004 - 10:15:14 AM
Well all,
the board started as a place to try to help people out, especially green newbies.

Then for me, all the posters became a real wake-up call about what is happening in IT. I joined TORAW and have been an early voice among my peers spreading the word - mostly thanks to this site.

Also, monster tech forum became a great place to get motivated to stay current and become paranoid. With every post about what is happeneing out there, I became more and more determined to continue staying focused on hands on tech. I passed my SCNA and passed 3/7 MSCE tests so far.

Just want to say thanks to all the lurkers out there that have been posting positive helpful messages to the rest of us. And to all, especially the unemployed - keep the faith!

- Rich

This board was never useful. It's stated purpose was an impossible one from the beginning. Allan's dispensing of obvious generalities and polite platitudes as expert advice to the great unwashed masses that used to read this board were an insult to the intelligence of anyone who ever had even an inkling.

There was nothing even remotely useful about these forums unless you are congenitally brain damaged or irretrievably stupid as anyone with even the merest modicum of intelligence could search the internet and find what they needed to know on their own without ever stopping here.

The only thing this board was ever good for was idle entertainment and for that I will miss it but I will miss nothing else about Monster and I have never found anything Monster useful.

Re: Final thoughts and good bye - Sgt. Rock - 4/20/2004 - 1:33:53 PM
Yep. Someone bring out the wayback machine! Why is the Monster Networking board dead? I got my 90 day free thingie working just today.

Problem is, if you cut-out riff-raff stuff, you end up w/nothing. It can also be said that it takes a critical mass of riff-raff to bring in a few good posts.

Too bad, in any case. I don't think riff-raff stuff killed this board. May have diminished it, but didn't kill it.

Re: Final thoughts and good bye - JimF - 4/20/2004 - 2:15:52 PM

No, Sgt. Rock what killed this board was the implosion
of high tech in the United States, which unless the
industry experiences a strong recovery, means that
the new board will not fare much better than this
one.

Re: Final thoughts and good bye - Sgt. Rock - 4/20/2004 - 2:28:48 PM
You are right, Jim F. Treating tech people like commodities/chattle, through Visa laws, etc.

It hurts this occupation more than any other because we don't compete on business domain skills, we compete on technical skills. You can't import business domain, but you can import math, science, tech. This is why Americans aren't stupid when they choose to avoid these fields.

Math (teachers) seems hot right now, so I'll leave that one out of the mix.

Re: Final thoughts and good bye - Sgt. Rock - 4/20/2004 - 2:30:24 PM
Probably because it takes an American to teach Math - Speaking good English, and teaching skills.

This was for Gloomy, but it fits Jack - Karmakanik - 4/20/2004 - 4:39:04 PM
"I sincerely hope Monster fufils it's ultimate destiny and GOES BROKE!! It deserves to."

This sums up the snide, petty, whining, complaining, socialist-communist, jack perfectly.

He leeches off Monsters free service for months/years, and then spits on them and promises to dance on their grave on his way out. Perfect exit for this worthless sack of sh*t, his incesent whining, blaming and repeated demonstration of his malcontent did no-one any favors.

Yup the far right is at it to the very end. It's
amazing, all the creeps the far right supports --
the Wal-Marts who leech off of tens of thousands of
minwage workers and the religious fanatics like Bush
who leech off the Guard and Reserves. The far right
does NOTHING BUT steal off of others, it's their only
purpose in life. Don't complain about those left of
center using a free IT board.

IT workers have run into trouble not because of personal
flaws but because our jobs have been stolen. The
stealers are fine citizens who are experts in the way
the world works -- the rest of us complainers. In the
world view of the far right it's complaining not stealing
that the ultimate vice. A more accurate analysis of
the far right would actually point to thinking as the
ultimate vice.

---"A more accurate analysis of

Quite true.

But wait. The far right *don't have* to think at all. No. They've got Rush and Hannity to do their thinking for them. Easy. Even better than that they've got Condi and Ridge to keep them safe and warm at night, AshKKKroft to keep the lefties under control, the NRA and Charlton Heston to guarantee their assault rifle entitlements, Rumy to dice those naughty Arabs (although it seems those naughty Arabs are dicing us - in Iraq anyway), and Fox News Channel as their source of education and entertainment.

Ah, the right have got it made. All laid on for them. Explains a lot really..............they'd be a joke if they weren't f*cking it up so badly.

Damn straight! If my actions forced people to become independent and more resourceful by making them search harder to find things out on their own instead of asking a lot of stupid questions here then great!.

I can count the participants here that I will miss on the fingers of one hand.

For the rest of you - good riddance. Almost all of you are getting just what you deserve in the johb market for your the-world-owes-me-a-living-because-I-went-to-school attidudes you exhibit here. Especially those of you who blame your situation for the attitude instead of vice versa. You folks can blame everybody from a hindu shoeshine boy all the way up to the president of the United Sates, but you can't look within yourself to discover the REAL reason for youir current situation.

Good luck - you are going to need a lot of it.

That best sums up Delos' world view and his contempt for his fellow man. He considers it a principled stance, I'm sure.
