I've been w/WM for almost 4 years this Jan.2007. Have always worked in the back room as a 1 man receiver. When I started I was 1 of the 2 ICS team. When we moved to the new supercenter my designation was changed to receiving.
I started out working 10am to 7pm, then 8am to 5pm & now work 6am to 2pm, sun. thru thurs. My starting wage was $5.15 per hr. Have had 5 merit raises & the max on my yearly raises. Now, I make a hair under $8.50 & that is still a lot lower than what the new people are making now. The minimum wage here in my state has gone up twice in the last 3 years. The 1st increase I got 15 cents & the 2nd increase I got a whopping 30 cents.
Since the max raise went from 55 cents to 60 cents & the minimum wage went up again to $6.70 I won't get an increase this time.
I'm the equipment trainer for our store & I don't get any xtra for that position. I operate the scissorlift, walkiestacker, elect. pallet jack & the old run down forklift.
I've never been a dept. mgr. or a team leader & don't want the responsibility.
Mgt. treats me like mgmt. anyway. I have a boss, but, never have been told what to do. I just do my thing in the stock room & don't bother anyone. I've made a lot of changes w/out mgmt. OK back there & they've never made me change it back.
So, I guess U can say I'm my own boss.
I plan on staying till I retire again or until they boot me out the door.
