As a former salary manager (Lies/Reality) with Wal-Mart, I know they probably won't tell you that it's because you posted on WWAssociates, however, Wal-Mart will have to give a reason to the NLRB as to why they cut your hours. If Wal-Mart says it's because you came in late 1 day (for example), then they are going to have to show they cut everyone's hours that came in late to work 1 day. Slander/Defamation is not allowed! This means that if you think your store manager is having an affair with all the cashiers up front, you should not post that information on this website. Yes, it is a juicy story, perhaps, but it is also against the law, and is not protected under "concerted activity." Another thing Wal-Mart has been known to tell people is that they can't talk about anything work related, because it's confidential, and they even put that on all the bottom pages of anything you print off the wire. The UFCW legal dept. has assured me that this will not hold up in court if Wal-Mart is telling you, "sorry, anything that happens here is confidential", but for example, what they are trying to tell you is confidential but at the same time jeopordizes your safety, etc. One more example of "concerted activity", is going to your district manager about an issue with other associates who are in the same boat as you on a work related issue. Going as a group can help protect you because there are witnesses to your side of the issue. 3---The UFCW is not affilated WWAssociates and vice-versa.
