Lies/Reality started as a stockmen with Wal-Mart in 2000 and moved from one area of the store to the next. Later, he became an unloader and immediately became the receiving manager. While receiving manager he created WWAssociates (Wally World Associates) for current and former Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club associates and customers to come and share their good and bad experiences without fear of retaliation. In 2004 he was accepted into the Manager Training Program (MTP), and left WWAssociates behind. He returned to WWAssociates only to find it was not the same, so he re-created the website.

Lies, I was just wondering if you may be able to help me out. At our youth confrence we are having Ralph Nader as a guest speaker. Do you know much about him? I know he ran for president in 2001 ( I think) and thats about it. Any info you have that would be great!

Ralph Nader was one of the first consumer advocates. He wrote a scathing overview of the automotive industry in the late sixties in a book titled Unsafe At Any Speed. Very good book. It shook up the automotive industry, and led to many reforms in the appearance, safety and economy of American autmobiles. Without his book, a lot of the safety features in modern cars we take for granted would never have happened., IMHO.

Sorry, for not getting back with you JVB until now.

Your right he ran for President, which i think he mainly did so to take votes away from one party in particular.

Here is some good information that you may want to check out about him.

Hi Lies, Just wanted to appologize for not being around alot. I just moved out on my own.  Here's my 2 icebreakers (games) for my locals youth confrence:
1) UNION SURVIVOR:
Pretend your on a deserted island 1,000 kilometers from land. You have a life boat big enough for your tribe, and you also have oars. You and your tribe must decide on items you need to survive:
  • Flint
  • A case of food rations (24 boxes)
  • Matches
  • Fishing gear
  • Scuba diving equipment
  • An axe
  • A 2 gallon can of gas
  • Rice
  • A set of cast iron pots
  • A tarp
  • 15 feet of nylon rope
  • A first aid kit
  • A kettle
  • A set of dishes
  • A compas

You can only have 5 of the 15 items. You must come to an agreement as a group. If you can't agree ......... keep trying.

2) The 2nd is a bingo game to do with unions. It basically gives us an idea about how much the delegates know about unions.

Works at a hotel

Works at a car rental agency

Has attended a union conference

Knows what city our national office is located in

Works at a call center

Knows what a stat holiday is

Member of a trade union

Know who local 832's president is

Knows what the local's website is

Has a copy of the collective bargaining agreement

Has attended a union meeting

Reads the union board at work

Knows some of your benefits

Reads the union magazine

Filed a grieveance

Works at a grocery store

Knows what child labour is

Is a shop steward

Knows what street our training centre is on

Knows who to see to file a grieveance

Knows what automatic certification is

Know who your union rep is

Knows what it means to organize a workplace

Knows how much your union dues are

Has been injured on the job

Hey Lies, Sorry I haven't been around alot.  Our youth conference is cancelled because we have a big provincial election comming up May 22nd so all our youth committee executive board ( I'm on it) are now poll cats. Poll cats are where we go door to door & ask the people if they are willing to support the NDP in the upcomming election. In Manitoba (my province) ever since the early 1980's we've always had an NDP government.

Lies, It all depends on the areas we go into. The area that I live in has huge NDP support. Our bosses just send us into the areas where there will be tight races. The area we were in the 1st day will be a tight race. The liberal candidate has been in office for 17 years. From the numbers we got, the NDP should walk away with that race.  This is a link to our provincial NDP site.  http://ndpcaucus.mb.ca/ We were at a press conference with the premiere.

Hey Lies, I just wanted to appologize for not being around alot. The election is over now. We made history. The NDP got in for the 3rd term in a row.  We also got 2 seats that were Liberal seats.  We had a majority government. If they call a federal election next year theres a good chance I will be working it.

Hey Lies, I might be in and out for awhile. I'm fighting with Safeway right now.  I was suspended at the beginning of the month for being away with the NDP for 2 days and even though my managers got a fax about it from the union they (Safeway) suspended me.  I fought that and won. The day they suspended me I fell off a ladder at work and hurt my back.  I called in sick on Sunday because I could hardly walk and they suspended me again today because I can't get into my doctor until Wednesday so I am suspended pending further investigation.  If this keeps up I'm just going to quit though. Thanks for everything Lies!

Sorry, for not resonding until now JVB. Are you still with Safeway? I don't blame you on being upset with them. Sounds to me like they are not treating you fairly at all. Hopefully your union will stand behind you, instead of letting you down. Either way i know you will make it through life just fine, because you are a fighter. Hope to hear from you soon though.
