I was hired in 1993 as a peak time cashier.  Since that time I have worked service desk, layaway, lawn & garden, sporting goods, electronics, cash office, CSM, test scanner, district assistant, and lead CSM.  Although I have never been job coded in UPC / invoicing I have filled in while the associate was on vacation and getting ready for inventory.  I have officially worked in 3 stores, but have been sent to several stores to help out... either as cash office, invoicing, CSM, or inventory prep.  My favorite area is the front end.

It is a deleted position now.  When it existed, I simply test scanned the merchandise to make sure it was priced correctly.  I also checked signing throughout the store to make sure it was all up to company standards.  Now department managers do all this.  I would normally spend 1 1/2 days scanning hardlines, 2 days scanning softlines / domestics, 1/2 day comp shopping, and 1 day signing and paperwork (markup/markdown report, scanning exception report, price override, etc......)
