I don't understand the Manager V.S. Member Topic? Its a friendly game between members and managers on the site. Each time starts with 0 points each at the beginning of each month. A member will post cast 1 point, and will have to wait for another member or manager to cast a point before casting 1 more point, and so on. For more information e-mail the managers and well be glad to explain it further.
A member or manager is attacking me, what should I do? If a member of WWAssociates is doing anything improper please let one of the managers know, and we will look into it immediately. Please forward e-mails that you have to help in the investigation process. Should the issue involve a manager or if you feel the managers of the site have not done a satisfactory job, then feel free to contact MSN.
Does this site offer freedom of speech? Yes, and no. For the most part we want to think of WWA as an open minded site that allows both sides to come here and speak their mind without fear of retalliation. In rare cases you cannot speak your mind where it is illegal to do so, such as threatening to kill someone, etc.
I am afraid to post on the site because my manager/supervisor will find out and fire me. Can you give me a good reason to go ahead and post? We sure can! It is against the Federal law under "concerted activity," for your manager/supervisor to treat you different/fire/discriminate against you, because you came to the site to post honestly about what is going on in your store, even when it is not all good. If you feel Wal-Mart has treated you differently because you visited this site, even if they did something as small as giving you a less likeable schedule (cut your hours, for example), because you visited/posted on the site, you then can contact the NLRB to file a claim.
I want to be a manager/help out on the site, who should I contact? First, we thank you for wanting to help out on the site! We will consider all requests, but keep in mind that we cannot update everyone's status to managers. However, you can still help out by policing the site and promoting it.
Why did the website move? I made the mistake of updating someone to a manager status, that in return bumped me off the site and changed the attitude of the site to negative and one sided. The site has since mostly died off, so I decided to create a new website for a fresh start.

Legal Category
I quit or was fired from Wal-Mart, but they refuse to give me my last paycheck until I sign a green sheet (exit paper). Can they legally do this? Nope, it's a bluff!! The managers are required by Wal-Mart to get you to sign it, but if you refuse, they can't make you. If they try, contact a lawyer or your states Wage dept., because they can't hold your money over your head.
Can an employer (Wal-Mart) mandate a drug test? Can an employer mandate a drug test? Lawyers: Yes, but they cannot deny you benefits on that alone. Drug tests are unreliable and often show false positives. Contact an attorney if you feel it is wrong.
I've always received satisfactory evals/good job buttons/long term worker, can my boss fire me for "just cause"? Sadly yes, the laws protect the employer not the employee. However, an elderly employee may be able to claim age discrimination.
Is it legal for a company to require workers to stay in on their non-paid lunch hour and not be allowed to leave due to the store being closed (locked in)? I was told that as a general rule they (company/manager) would have to prove a strong security risk or other reason to do so. This may vary by area, so it's best to call Dol (Dept. of Labor) on this to see what rules apply in your area. If Dol tells you that there is a law on this, you can have Dol contact your store and they will be happy to explain to the store they are in violation of the law(s). If your state has laws on breaks/lunches, then this probably will be different. Also, the attorneys did suggest that if you are someone being locked in, to talk to a manager first, to show that you made an attempt, and if this does not work, contact an attorney in your area, as well.
Can an employer require you to wear a backbelt, and fire/write you up for not doing so? I was told that the company had better be able to show a strong and reasonable safety reason to do so. Attorneys do suggest you call Dol to make sure of this in your area.
Do workers have any rights if they think they are going to be written up/fired, because "weingarten rights" were taken away from non-unionized employees? Yes, it's recommended that they go to their manager as a group, with the same problem when possible, under "concerted activity", that way you have not only witnesses to what was said, but perhaps a legal case later on.
Can a manager require you to work past your scheduled hours? From time to time yes, but this CANNOT BE DONE EXCESSIVELY!
Is it true that there is a law that if you come into work, work your scheduled hours, but then they send you home, let's say in 2 hours, you still must be paid for a minimum of 4 hours? Some local laws do exist (depends on the area). Generally, they are required to pay you from the time it takes to arrive there and back.
If an item rings up higher than what it is marked, does the store have to sell you the item for the cheaper price? The store can be fined if it happens often, but no, the store is not required to do so. The customer must be given the option to return the item to the shelf if they want.
Can Wal-Mart mandate that you come in on your day off to attend a cashier's meeting, only to have your hours cut later in the week? No, this is illegal. You should contact your local Department of Labor office and briefly explain what is happening, and let your next level of management know.
Is my bumper sticker covered under "freedom of speech," while on company property? Its not a freedom of speech issue. As a Wal-Mart associate you are an "at will" employee, so you can be let go at any time.
What is an "at will" employee? An employee is employed at the will of the employer for as little or as long as the private employer wishes, and in whatever lawful capacity the employer requires. The employee may choose to work at the employee's will for the length of time he or she desires. An employer need not provide any reason for terminating an "at will" employee, so long as the termination isn't unlawful or discriminatory (based on age, sex, national origin, disability).
Can Wal-Mart monitor us in the breakroom? Normally, as long as you are made aware of it, then they can. If this happens during a union drive then make sure you report it.
Can Wal-Mart monitor my phone calls, and e-mails? Normally yes.
Aren't I forbidden from talking about policies or other things that i have seen on the wire, because at the bottom of the page it says "confidential?" It depends. If it deals with sales figures then you might be forbidden. Just because they tell you its confidential doesn't make it so. For example if they are doing something that causes a safety issue, then you are protected.
In Kansas can you move out at the age of 18 without parent permission? Yes
In Kansas what your options if parent that has full custody is emotional abusive to a child? Normally, without physical abuse the law will tend to believe the parent over a child. The child or anyone may report this to Social Services who may intervene, especially if they believe the child. Or the child may report this to other officials.
