ok so about 4:30 i'm in the middle of a self imposed project at work when management comes through and asks how many of a specific tv i have...25..so i get directed to make a display out of them..sure no problem I think.
i go in the back there are 10 of them about 20 feet off the ground and i don't have a license to operate the equipment to get to them. no one in the back at the time is certified...so the manager who asked me to do it comes through and gets it down for me (without giving me grief about it). i load them up on a float and take them out to the floor. well now i've got so much other crap on the floor that i take a few other things to put into the security room and this same person asks if the base is done yet (i'm thinking it's been less than 10 minutes!) i tell him no but its being worked on...i got back out another customer asks for something that is in the security room and i page again for management, and its the same person again asking me if its done yet. i tell him no but we're working on it ( now its been like 15 minutes).
i finished it with the help of another employee....then this manager wants one of these tvs up on display ...again thinking no issue but the holes on the stand don't match up to the tv (we find this out after we take the other down..and i'm sure i'm going to hear it because the other tv being up was a home office thing)....so he calls for one of us to go up front to run register...one is doing a carryout and the other one and myself are working on this tv...so i tell the other guy to go up front and when the other comes back we will fix the tv...easier said than done...i try to go up front and the other comes back so there's no need for me to go up there obviously.
this took 2 1/2 hours and that tv wasn't working yet when i left....i don't mind being ridden but hell this was ridiculous...he was getting pissed because there were 3 of us and 2 couldnt' go up front...well its a 2 person job to get this thing done that he wanted done....
if it wouldn't have gotten me fired i would have told him to come help get this done if he is that anxious about it...not to mention our dept was slammed...
so glad to be out of that place...have to go back in less than 11 hours now...god help me..if tomorrow is going tobe like today...
Actually Red the SM was going to let it stand...he did talk to the co again and asked him to make the final decision. At least according to what the co told me. He did admit he was wrong for assuming I faked an injury to get off on the day I called out. He said they are in need of good people and when I am good I am very good and can't be beat but when I have a bad day watch out. My asst told me I am still under that Dday (well duh) and any little thing will make me gone at this point. I know and am sure they will put the screws to me but ya know what? I am a very stubborn person once I set my mind to something there is no changing it so I am making up my mind they won't get to me. I am in connections more than electronics probably because my dm doesn't want me there and that is fine....I still have full time status and 40 hours and no pay cut.
yep i am....its been real bad lately...they refuse
to hire for the holidays/snow bird season so they are stretching us even thinner
than normal....management says its going to get worse...they are literally
finding everyone in the store who does not know how to run a register to train
them...even the unloaders!
