We all know that they(management) are trained to be against the union. I did have, until the police moved in, the anti-union manual on my computer. I don't see Walmart allowing this to happen. They would rather close a store, than to see the union come in. Just my opinion, but a truthfull one. |

Sammichlady, I agree with your post. That is why they closed the store in Quebec. Wal-Mart claimed it was because they wouldn't make any money but the real reason was because the workers voted to unionize. |

I'm really not into unions either. I've lived in the North, and seen my share of strikes, some lasting quite a long time. Does the union actually believe in pay caps? They just started that in my store. What incentive does that give you to stay with the company? Just picture your eval. AM: " You did a great job the last year. You went out of your way to make sure the job was done, no matter what it took, even if it meant staying over time. We really appreciate it, but we're sorry, you're not getting a raise. Thanx for your time" You: "Bite me"      |

What is the incentive to keep your job when you reach your cap?  Mine
will be :

Living indoors and eating.

lol.  The fact remains that if you do not do your job, you won’t have
one. That is the way it is pure and simple.  Sorry for being so harsh, but
that is the way they are feeling.

Of course the "open door" policy would work a lot better with a union, because they can't toss you out for speaking your mind. |

| There wouldn't be an open door policy if we were union..... the open door policy says YOU - an individual - can go to any level of management within the company with your complaints / concerns.  Not so with a union.  You have to follow the chain of command.

sorry, for the confusion. I was trying to point out that many are scared the opendoor will backfire on them. Without a union you are considered an at will employee and can be fired technically without a reason as long as it is not related to race, age, sex, etc. With a union the company would have a much harder time just coming up and firing you, because you would have more of a leg to stand. First you would have your Weingarten Rights (right to a witness of your choosing=-walmart does not allow this), file a grievance, etc. |

My wife works at a union retail company and she loves it.. her dues are like $32 a month and that covers her full medical coverage and other benifits and it is nearly impossible to be fire unless you break a state law or something.     From what i have seen unions are great |

I agree with you both. people for some reaon are either pro or against and wont' listen to anything that contradicts what they believe and try to say its all lies. Like people vote Democrat or Republican. IT has been proven that a person will run as one party then switch after losing and automatically when just by the party name. very sad. |
