I guess alot of store already do this. So I am hoping for some info really. Why this is in vent section is because we do not have enough people to do this at this time. Anyway they are doing it on the GM side on the grocery side not yet. Not enough people. See we can not have real trailers so we just have the back room warehouse and for me in produce we have our cooler. I work overnight produce. Right now I have never been so confused about my job as I am. The lead wants us to label everything before it goes into the cooler. In a week there is only three nights that there are two of us there. The other guy just had his decision day and who knows how long he will be working at the store. Our produce department does not get stocked during the day because they are slackers. I come in at night and the department is always wiped out. First I have to pull the bad and outdates stuff. Then I stock from the back stock in the cooler. Then four night a week we get a truck that comes anytime from before I get there til 6 am. Sometimes we only get 3 pallets but alot of times it is closer to 8 pallets. My thing is am I suppose to stock my department or am I suppose to label everything that comes in?? Dumb to label stuff the will go out right away. But how do I know when to stop trying to work the freight and to do labeling??? Heck some days I am lucky to get myself out of there on time without any labeling. I am just so confused right now. Management wants the department to look nice and full in the mornings. I am able to do that and I do a great job of that. But with this new labeling thing and possibly tracking them to a trailer which is really the cooler well I just am so confused as to what I am suppose to do at night. Confused frustrated you name it. Then add to the possible my third shift slacker may be out the door some night soon there is at least one slacker during the day that is supposedly close to being out the door also with another possibly behind him. Add more to do and with less people. It is just all very overwhelming right now. |

Fan are you talking about a trailer log or date codes from the garvey gun? I never heard of a trailer log for produce. We have no trailers for anything right now. |

learning the lead wants us to do both. The garvery gun is not so bad she wants us to put an inventory prep label on the left side with a count of how many items are in the box. She use to be ICS. But she thinks eventually we will have to log it onto a trailor actually our cooler. |

Never heard of such a thing. Sounds like she is trying to make her inventory easy. We garvey every thing with a date but that is all. |

my thoughts exactly make her job easier and our jobs harder. |

learning she already had the cooler set up for trailor logging. numbers on the shelves. Does that mean that we have to deduct things from the trailor listing when we take them out? |

At my store, I unload, pull pallets, do freight, trailer list big ticket items for electronics, check the list against the detail report [if they remember to print it]and anything else that management thinks no one else has time for. Give me a break! |

I am only talking about Produce specifically. Turnover of our stuff is so fast it doesn't sit on the shelves. |

Definately a different kind of idea. |

Too bad no one seems to have time to remove the product when it's taken to the sales floor. I hope the powers that be have fixed the on hand problem with trailer listings that we encountered a few years back at our store. If not, Bye-bye to that good inventory count everyone hopes for...cough cough.
