I'm not saying that... BUT at our store, we have a few that will get their change of clothes of their lockers like 10 minutes before they clock out and you see them like 15 minutes later clocking out. That's wasting 'company' time. I usually clock out and get changed. I put my stuff in the locker before and after I clock out. |

After reading this post, I paid closer attention yesterday. I was sitting in the breakroom before my shift. It was a little after 7:00 and two associates who work 7-4 shifts were in the smoking room. They left b/t 7:05-7:10. I watched one swipe his card at the timeclock; the other did not, left about a minute later and she walked right by it, obviously having punched in before smoking. |

couple weeks ago, we got "word" that there would be a strict watch on early and or late punches. "Strict" meaning, not a minute over or a minute early!! I knew about the 15 minutes over or under rule and wondered why now it was down to a minute, or how this is ever possible! Last time I worked(Ive missed days because of flu) I was closing jewelry at 10 locking up and cleaning glass, getting things finished and my co workers from the apparel dept were leaving and passing by. I figured ok close enough(almost 10 by a couple minutes by my register) Our store is 24 hours but lots of depts close much earlier, ours at 10. I went back and clocked out at least 10 minutes after seeing other people who also leave at 10, leave the sales floor. I was asked by a coworker at the next locker whom I know very well, who had her coat on, and purse in hand.. YOU DIDNT CLOCK OUT DID YOU? I said yes it's 10, didnt you? She said OH NO! WE HAD A MINUTE TO GO. Im thinking Ok well you technically left the sales floor a while before me. I said well it looked like 10 from my watch, and break room clock? She said NO the time clock is different, and they've told us we will be couched for punching even a minute early!!! I just rolled my eyes at this. Whata bunch of HOOEY! |

I liked that 15 minute over/under rule. If scheduled at 7am, I could start anytime between 6:45am and 7:15am, completely up to me. Because I lived so close to the store, I could time it to the exact minute when I showed up, and therefore would always do the 7:15 and cut my lunch short to make up the time (who needs an hour?) I must admit I viewed this as a very generous policy. Where I work now it's 6 minutes early-5 minutes late, which I think is fair, just not generous . But I can't imagine them demanding it to be exact. I mean, if 30 workers all start at 7, there will be a line at the time clock, and it takes about 2 seconds for each person to clock in, so someone will be late, through no fault of their own. My store also had the "Breakfast Club" of people who would clock in and have a smoke or soda. Speaking of overnight stockers riding the bus, when I was doing an o/n remodel, our supervisor LOVED to either kick people off the team permanatley or send them home for the day. She did that to this one guy for reading a magazine on the clock, and this guy took the bus to that store, this happened around midnight and he had to wait until around 6am until the busses started running again that day. |

I always thought the 15 minute grace period was nice, but agree that on the dot is to much to ask for. |

This is a small store. Locked up at night. One maintenance guy would go get a rug or something and go sleep in the bathroom. |

Cause maybe the elimination of our smoke room would not be necessary and i would not have to see those descusting cigarrettes cause that reason tops the list for seeking a transfere From Arc |
