I'm just wondering if the Asset Protection coordinators at your stores are the same way they were at mine. You know, over protective of certain areas, over using company funds for useless stuff, while seeming to be of little or no help to anything/anyone. Ours would strictly enforce that there must be 2 people IN electronics at all time (this means in the actual department, not in the back getting a TV or upfront getting returns, meaning we basically needed 3 at all times), whether it be at 7am when there's no one in the store, or at close when everyones cleared out... 2 people at all times. I think she sat in the back watching us on the cameras, she did a great job of "passing by" when someone snuck away for a soda for just a minute. She also made us install these stupid window alarms on all electronic cases (except video games) that will go off whenever opened, and we needed 2 seperate locks on our laptop case, and the beeping really hurt our ears. Further more, spider wrap was required on pretty much everything in the cases. We were also only allowed to have one IPOD on the floor at all times, all others had to be kept in the back. I don't know, having 2 locks, the window alarms, AND spider wrap on one case seems like a complete waste of resources, and I don't know if what she does is worth the assistant manager equivelint that she makes. |

I wish my store would enforce all of that. Would certainly help to cut down on stealing. |

I know that much of this stuff does come down from Home office, but sometimes I feel the rules should be bended. At my store do you know how much stuff was stolen in electronics before AND after the 2 person rule? Hardly any, maybe none. Yep, that's right, and I think it's probably the same way in your store too. Why? People would take a DVD or USB drive to another [unstaffed] area of the store and steal it there. This is why I feel this plan was so short sighted. They make all the sales floor associates work in electronics, so now there's no one in the other areas to watch for problems there. I'll admit that I actually didn't have a problem with her, I just couldn't understand some of the stuff she did. |

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that in my store, most nights there are only five people working the entire GM side of the store. Even if only half go to lunch at two, the is no way three people can watch the whole side of the store!!!!!. Worst place for finding stolen stuff? Clearance, lawn&garden and fabrics/crafts. |

At my store, especially around inventory, we'll have a piece of paper that shows the top five departments for loss, and how much loss there was in that department. Electronics is FAR AND AWAY the biggest area for items getting stolen. We've had a lot of upgrades to the security at our store as well; the $20 games used to just be out in the open; now they're spider-wrapped, because they were being stolen constantly. It was amusing; we had some kids come in, who were obviously big on stealing those games, when the spider-wrap was put on it, asked what was up with it, were told that it was there to deter people from stealing... and outrightly said "that sucks. C'mon guys, let's go to Target." Hah! Let those jerks have our thieves! |

spiderwrap $20 games? holy crap there wouldn't be enough spiderwire if we did that...we had ours in a dump bin but pulled it last week because of the theft...our flash drives are locked up now too...so are our wii controllers (which doesn't make a whole lot of sense as we have a huge corrigute full of them in action alley)....we have had this one guy keep coming back to steal...the other night he went to use someone else's check (he is a guy using a check with the name violet on it)...caught him one night with a knife trying to steal a prepaid phone...not that he can do anything with it if its not paid for....yesterday i saw him applying for a job....why? so he can rip us off blind? i went to ap about him...our ap guy is now riding around in a motorized wheelchair from knee surgery...nice huh? |

My store hasn't had a $20 dump bin a long time. At one time we had $5.00 movies on one side of a dump bin and the 20 games on the other side. Well they decided we needed both sides for movies, then we ended up going to the movie bookcase thing instead, and so the $20 now have no home. To be honest i fudge the game modulars and stick them on the bottom shelves to get them in there, and they sell. I even have them marked as $20. My mem has walked past it several times and either doesn't care or really noticed. My former assistnat knew thats what i did and didn't care, because a sale is a sale. |

Glad to hear i'm not the only person who does things to get by and what makes sense, when left with few other choices. Most of know that they say modulars are guide, but then some managers believe they are the gospel and threaten modular integrity. |

I think that managers that think mods are the Gospel are missing out on alot of sales the customers request that are not on the mod. I always ordered what the customer requested, no matter where I had to "hide" it or put it out! I am like you Lies! |
