Shouldn't have happened, but i think charges should occur. Hopefully, they will learn from thier lessons, but you never know with people any more. Charge them as adults i say. Just my opinion.

  Should they be charged as adults?  Yes, I do think they should be charged as adults. I never heard if the 14 year old actually hit the girl. They might need to go easier on her, if juvie is easier.

   Should the parents be charged?   They probably will be sued for a ton of money. Their kids "might" see a normal life, but it's doubtful. I think they will suffer enough.

    "she thought this was a one time silly thing the girls did and was being blown out of poportion".     That exactly why they will all be punished, so that other children don't look at it as a "silly thing". I think they will be made examples off. I have heard they could get life in prison for this. That may be to long, only because I want them to get out and pay this girl the money she will deserve. She deserves to get only the best in life after that. Can you imagine the fear???

CNN reported the beating went on for over 30 min and each girl took a turn beating her..The sheriff backed that statement..! So the 14 year old swings with the older tuff crowd ..she should hang with them to !

I do have some sympathy for the parents ...you can only teach your children the best you know how ..and when the law took the discipline out oh the hands of parents ..it sent one heck of a message to the kids of today ..and dam the one that does try to correct them untill it is to late and then that same law holds them responible !

The one mother that made the stupid statement it was just a silly act..I just have to wonder if she would feel the same way ..if it had been her daughter that was beating !

I agree that the mother wouldnt' have felt the same way, and is only trying to protect her own child by making the statement and sadly may be one of those parents out there who truly doesn't understand the seriousness of what they did. I see to many parents out there who let thier kids behave like monsters and wonder why they turn out bad. (sigh)

Has anyone heard why these teens turned on this girl like a pack of animals? My husband mentioned that these girls were actually acting like a pack of wild animals do in the wild. They will attack and kill the weak. Heck, we're all weak at one time or another.

   I hope parents take back some of the control over kids of today. I'm also glad mine is raised. lol

That video just disgusted me. I do think that these girls should be tried as adults because of the fact that this was all planned out ahead of time. Plus in the video you can see that the girl was trying to leave and they would not let her.

It just bugs me to see that these girls and there parents think that this was just a teenager thing. No this is very serious and this young girl will be having dreams about this for a long time.

This is my opinion. But I really think that they need to spend a lot of time in jail. Then lets see how tought they are when they all get ganged up by the other prisoners.

I know that is a bad thought. But what these girls did was very terrible.

Cmarie----thats a good question you asked. I haven't really followed this, because i haven't been watching the news, just seen a bit about this. For all we know there could be more to this story than we know, and while i'm not making excuses, it would be nice to know the entire story.

Cmarie & Lies..from the news accounts..the girl that was beat up had said some trashy things and called one of the other girls a slut on her MY SPACE page..

So to get even 8 people planned this attack..right down to having cameras ready!

They had planned on posting the video on my space and you tube..

It seems to be the new rage ..to beat the hell out of someone or to destroy property some one else has worked thier butt off for.. and post the video.

I can not see any jusitifacation in a attack like this..for them to actually plan it and carry it out is just sick in my mind ! The sheriff called it animalistic..I agree with him completely..This has been a hot topic in our breakroom...and I am shocked at the people that think it was just a bunch of kids expressing thierselves !! I think some parents are afraid of that, and other parents just don't do good parenting and discipline thier kids. I see parents overlly baby thier kids will they destroy things, and they just baby talk them.
