Opinions please. See my lead in produce thinks it is more important that the cooler be organized and all crates and boxes dated then it is that the produce department be stocked so customers can purchase the produce. I can see dating the stuff after it has been worked but it makes absolutely no sense to me to date things and put them on the shelves in the cooler when they would go right out on the store shelves where they could then be purchased. Also why waste time dating them when alot of them will go out on the shelves that night?? Turnover is high in produce product wise. I mean this last weekend they spent Friday dating the crates and boxes from the Thursday night -Friday morning truck and put them on the cooler shelves instead of working them. I am not kidding here there were next to no potatoes on the potato shelves there were cantalopes that would have went out and lots of other stuff and the next morning was Saturday Morning when alot of customers come in and do their grocery shopping. I was ticked let me tell you if I didn't need the job I would have walked out.

clovey I understand the overstock but it isn't overstock if it stuff that can be stocked is it?? Over stock means stuff that won't go out on the shelves they were doing this to things that if you looked at the shelves would have looked like they were outs when in reality they were in the cooler or in the prep area just waiting to be put out by someone. Overstock means extra stuff. I am frustrated because things that would go out were not being put out. Rather they were being put on the cooler shelf. Sure the cooler looked great but the department looked like crap cause there were so many empty spots. You can't sell air.

i've worked in produce for 3 years and every load we put away is always dated as we put it in the cooler and back shelves..sometimes we get more than we need and so having the dates helps get the oldest stuff out first..we have a pretty good system down and my produce lead is picky.. Ive gone to a few other walmarts in my area and state and I must say our produce dept is always well stocked and clean..

alot my frustration is that the day people do not stock the sales floor. I mean at all. It doesn't matter if there are no potatoes or no onions they do nothing to help stock the department. It makes me frustrated and upset because if I go to the Supercenter in Dubuque you will always see their people stocking their produce department during the day. Our store is horrible for not having things out on the shelf and to be honest with you I find it embarassing. You go to other grocery stores in the area and their people are constantly stocking their produce and their produce departments are always stocked. In our store we have empty shelves but full coolers. Honestly though the Bakery department and deli is the same way. We just don't have enough workers or the workers we have just are not doing their jobs in stocking their departments it is horrible. Sometimes I think we look like a store that is in the process of closing its doors there is that much emptiness on the store shelves. You go to the wal-mart in Dubuque and their shelves are all stocked and are always constantly being restocked.

Putting a garvey sticker on everything would be no problem she is putting inventory prep labels on everything plus another label with the plu's on it. Next step I guarantee you is that we have to put the number of things in each crate or box on the label. Our lead has a one track mind INVENTORY!!!

I have gotten exceeds on my last two evals. I have high standards for myself at work I am so frustrated with my store which is in my home town that I have put in a transfer request for the Dubuque store because down there the day people actually do some work and stock their department. I use to love produce and I realize it is not produce that I now do not like it is the way our produce is being ran. Nobody makes the day people work.

yes we are low for people. One associate comes in from 4-1 then the lead usually comes in or is suppose to come in 7-4 but seems to come in when she feels like it if at all. then we have one other full time associate for days. we now have two part time associates for second shift. since the lead we have now has been our lead we have had four people fired in our department in I would say the last four months. so yes not enough people is a problem but having the ones we do have at work and actually doing some work including the lead would help. please see my post about the absenteeism. the fact we don't have enough people is even more reason why someone should not be able to ask for time off the day before and get it.
