The state of Pa. went smoke free today and it angered me to hear all the talk.Every one complained about not being able to smoke, but not once did I hear any one mention 9/11/2001. How very sad. We didn't even have a moment of silence at work. How about your store>

Learning,

Our store announced over the pa that we were now going to observe a moment of silence in rememberance of 9/11.  I was surprised, but thought it was a good thing to do.

I think it should have been mandated company wide. Kudos for your store.

There was actually a company issued message about the moment of silence on the wire last week.  It was suggested the flags fly at half-staff that day too.

we did do a moment of silence at our morning meeting.  we held our meeting a little early that day due to that, so everyone would remember.

Kinda late to reply to this...but we had the moment of silence in our store as well. The customer at our L& G register spent the entire time yelling about how she shouldn't have to deal with this s**t and on and on. I thought our cashier should have just kept ringing her out and get her out of the store personally. Most every other customer and associate thought it was a good idea.

This is kind of off topic, but I was at Philadelphia Park (a casino/racetrack just outside the Philadelphia border) last week and people were smoking there, are casinos exempt from that law? Kind of annoied me.

in florida if a business makes ore than a certain percentage of their money off food then they have to be non smoking...perhaps there is something like that there?

I'll bet this law will get them a hell of a lot more business. The only restaurants, buildings, entertainment centers where smoking is allowed, yeah, people are gonna be flocking there just to smoke.
