Looks like I will unfortunately be leaving walmart for good, shortly.
Things took a turn for the worse.
After posting, I decided i would call my HR rep. The HR rep wasn't in, but her assistant was. I told the assistant part of what was going on(since I was just asking her to leave a message for the HR rep to call me back). The assistant decided to call my co-manager, thinking this is all about a scheduling error. About 20 minutes later, the co-manager called me. She was pretty upset and asked for my side of this story. I don't know why she really asked me this, since every time I said something, she said "I don't buy that".So after being called a liar for about 20 minutes she said "A spot on 3rd shift has opened, and I am going to put you in that position. However, you are no longer allowed to speak to any assistant manager about anything...I will be your manager from now on and all things must go through me, since there seems to be a miscommunication between you and the assistant managers." (which I'm not so sure she can single me out like that)... Later the HR rep called me back and we talked, she basically didn't say anything helpful to me.
Yesterday the co-manager asked me to come in to do my job offer. I came in to do my job offer and the co-manager was gone. I walked into the office and THREE assistant managers did my job offer and gave me a schedule. I am only being scheduled 5 hours this week and 5 hours next week. I will make about $80 for the entire 2 weeks after taxes. They are saying they have a certain amount of hours they can fill for each shift, and that is all they have left for me(they were basically belittling me, they filled out my time adjustment for me-like I was a child that couldn't complete my own work and things like that)
As I was walking out of the store, a CSM that I know stopped me and said she was in the manager's office when the co-manager was telling all the 3rd shift managers that they were not to meet alone with me, and that they all had to be present because i have "communication issues" and she didn't want me to come telling her lies about them. I felt kinda bad after hearing this, since I had a great rep with the 3rd shift managers(they have been trying to get me on 3rd shift for 3 months now).
As always, any advice is welcome.

I know this may not be the kind of "advice" you were "welcoming", but you have learned the hard way (just like I did) that the open door policy is a load of BS. If you contact the person working above the manager that gives you problems, all they will do is either: A) Side with your boss or B) Tell them to not do it again both of these will put you on the hit list of the manager. With that said, I really wouldn't suggest going to your regional HR, it will just make things worst, however, if you are operating on the "I can quit any day" mindset, you really don't have much to lose, worst that can happen is that you are called a liar again. Basically, I would put the issue to rest, another one of my "famous quotes" could be put in here "Telling a manager about a problem is like a 3rd grader telling his teacher about a bully, it never solves anything and it just makes the situation far worst than it already was", you deal with bullies with bb guns, and you deal with managers by getting a job at Target LOL. But really, just show up, do your job, and go home. Remember if you leave Wal-Mart you are still welcome in this group. I'm sure many current and future members would benefit from your advice from being in such a situation. |

Wish I had gotten to this reply earlier today. Ha, I must sound so naive, but I guess I am since my only real work experience is the military.
But, you are completely right. I did call the regional HR rep again today. We spoke about what was going on, and I explained that I would really like to keep this job, because 99% of my experiences have been positive. I told her that I already had a talk with the co-manager, where I explained why I needed 20-25 hours a week, since they cut my husband's hours severely(which is the reason i even went to produce-the assistant manager in that area told me that he would give me 20-25 hours a week). The HR rep said "Honestly, I think you take things too personally and you need to suck it up if you want to stay with walmart" (which-maybe i DO take things personally) my response was "So, if you were only scheduled 5 hours a week, you wouldn't take it personally?" (she didn't answer). I asked her if she could facilitate a transfer, since I didn't feel i was being treated fairly(and with the holidays coming, i figure a transfer to a different store shouldn't be hard). She told me that she was refusing to help me with a transfer, and that I could take it upon myself to transfer(which i just feel is going to cause even greater problems if I try to get myself transferred).
SO.... i dunno-I figure I have nothing to lose now, and it was suggested to me that i call "home office", because if i don't get the transfer, I will have to quit |
