Protect Your Garden Spell Color of the day: White Incense of the day: Evergreen
During the month of May in colonial America, farmers would bless their land and pray for a good harvest. Revive this tradition by performing this spell to protect your garden.
On a May eve, As the Sun forgets the light of day, Fill an earthen vessel made of clay With soil from your sacred ground, Then add a pinch of cinnamon, Spicy and brown, And a bit of clove to purify. Let this be witnessed by Mother Earth and Father Sky, Stir it all with a nail aged with rust, Blend these elements until they’re reduced to dust.
Sprinkle this about each bed and border, As you announce your magical order: No beast nor fowl from sky or land Shall bring harm to this garden, Which I protect by my own hand. To secure your garden’s protection and fate, Bury the rusty nail near your garden gate.

</MYMAILSTATIONERY> Weed the Garden Ritual Time to weed the garden? With the Moon waning, you can weed and do magic at the same time. Start by thinking about what you want to get rid of in your life, and perhaps in the world. Then, go into your garden, equipped to weed with kneepads, hoe, fork, and the like. As you pull each weed, name it, and say these words:
I remove hate, I remove poverty. I remove my anger at my boss.
And so on. Be creative in your designs. Afterward, be sure to dispose of the weeds carefully. Either bag them and put them into the garbage immediately, knowing they are going away, or if you compost, ask the Earth to transform them as they rot.

</MYMAILSTATIONERY> Planning Your Garden Spell As days grow warmer and the Earth becomes fertile, our focus turns toward our summer gardens, window boxes, and patio pots. As you purchase your herbs and vegetables for planting, infuse each with magical energy. Herbs contain practical and magical properties; enhance these with your intention. Plant during the waxing Moon to support growth and invite the power of each herb to flourish and expand as you tenderly give it a new home. Add a coin or two to the soil to invite plenty and to honor the earth element of pentacles. Plants nurture us and support our growth, both physical and spiritual. By recog-nizing the mystery within this green gift from Nature, we become a more intimate part of life’s cycle.

</MYMAILSTATIONERY> Jade, the Gardener’s Friend Color of the day: Red Incense of the day: Honeysuckle
Tuesdays are days of the energy and protection of Mars, and August is the height of the gardening season. To ensure good crops, potent herbs, and beautiful flowers, employ the magical powers of jade. Wear this gemstone while gardening to assist in your efforts for a fruitful harvest. Integrate jade’s healing powers full-time into your green spaces by burying four small pieces of jade in the four directions. This will ensure healthy growth for your plants, and it will inspire prosperity for all those who enjoy your garden. After the harvest, place jade stones on your altar. Stroke them and gaze at them as you make plans for the next season.

</MYMAILSTATIONERY> Bird Banishing Spell Color of the day: Turquoise Incense of the day: Jasmine
Do you have a problem with birds in your garden? This spell shoos them away. Collect an assortment of sparkly bird-banishers. Garden stores sell tinsel streamers, pinwheels, mirrored mobiles, and so forth, or you can use aluminum pie plates. Hang them all around your garden, and say:
Fairies wild, fairies free, Lend your ears to me. Come and see what I have done, See the sparkle of the sun! Come to visit and to stay. Come to play.
Fairies love flashy things. Plus, their mischievous nature inclines them to tease anything that moves. Pesky birds will desert your garden in search of quieter feeding grounds.
