Just a quick note to let you know I'm doing very well with the knee.  Just finished home therapy last Friday and am now in out-patient.  They're calling me Wonder Woman.  I guess that means they're impressed with my progress, after only 4 weeks.  I have already thrown away my cane!  LOL

I can start driving now; however, ice and snow are in the forecast so I don't know when I'm going to finish shopping for the 20 people who will grace my doorstep on Christmas Day.  Anyway, my time on the computer may be very limited until after the holidays so I wanted to wish you all the happiness, good health, peace, safety, fun and of course, prosperity throughout the season and the New Year!

A finer group of friends could not be found anywhere!  Love and Blessings upon you all.

KC

Well, my Christmas has been Merry.  I stayed home, warm and dry, and tried to install one of the computer games my younger son sent me ("Riven" the sequel to MYST, which was one of my all-time favorite games.)  Getting frustrated with installation going awry, but son just called and he'll do some research on the problem and get back to me.  Sure hope he can fix it, as I really want to play that game!

Meanwhile, munching on Mandel Bread (another present from friends far away,) and watching re-runs on TV.

Blessings on all my "family" here.  You're the best present I've ever received!!!

Not to ''stir anything up,' Pikes, but we are certainly agreed Gryphon has her way with words. You all are swell folks, and I count myself multiply blessed to have the gift of your friendship.

Say, Gryphon, since the intrusion of modern technology (especially since invention of computers) Christmas and birthdays are pretty much always opportunities to practice meditation and stillness of spirit... aren't they?

Hope your knight in shining armor manages to find the help you need in time for your enjoyment of Riven today. I've still not figured out Myst. Just keep running around in circles from island to island and nothing new to find. Looks like I'm supposed to interpret some pictographic language to progress!?! Heck, I've enough trouble with written English. Am certainly no linguistic scholar. When it became frustrating rather than fun, I just put it way. It's been a year or more now. Couldn't find any tips or hints online. People who play the game are selfish with their discoveries evidently. Maybe someday I'll pick Myst up again, maybe not. Frustration is not my idea of fun.

We are in no hurry here today. It is just the wife, my elder sis and myself. Of course, long distance phone calls have all been made. Dinner will be in about another two hours. Since sis is still ensconced in the other room working on our gifts they aren't even wrapped, so Christmas gifts have not yet been opened. The wife is working on some dance. I am doing some video transfers for offline editing later. Just relaxing and hanging out while waiting for the bird to finish cooking.

As said, we're all 'old' folks here and not in any hurries.

Montezuma's revenge on Christmas, Coot? What on earth did y'all have for dinner? Our very best warm wishes to the both of you.

Again, it is a blessing and deep pleasure to have each of you as part of my life. Thank you for being. Have a lovely Christmas night.

In my linguistic, I spell it Missed. For me, no game is. Then again I also spell mall with a "u."

Picked up kettles last night, then went on the soup wagon run to serve the bridge people Christmas dinner. Took a ton of bread, salad fixings, pies and vegetables to the Senior Center for Christmas Day dinner today: Army brought the turkey and ham. After all that, joined the rest of the family, sharing dinner with a guy who recently was laid off from his job, and his family.

Nice to have kids old enough to more appreciate this aspect, than as recipients of an army of toys and gadgets not nearly so fulfilling.

I rather think we as a nation are only as great as we treat our poorest, and most unfortunate citizens. Instead of the gift thing, this year we all decided to use Christmas to enrich and empower our desperate people, instead of the merchants of the mauls. Thing is, this commitment has to go on beyond just a token generosity at Christmas. Adversity doesn't relent, and the kindness needed at Christmas, really to become a daily event.

I have a hunch given the economic turns, a lot more Americans stepped back to look more closely at a greater meaning of Christmas this year, than in past years. Maybe that will not only become a trend, but an extention from which we can really do something.

God bless each of you, for what you do. I appreciate how you give your heart to God through each other, and encourage you to give your hand to man with the same cheer.

Glad you had a great Christmas Day with your famly, xer. I hope the snow relents too, though you had a white Christmas, and that's especially nice with your loved ones.

Gryp, RiVen is one great graphic and puzzle game. I (and in a few cases we) have played the first four of the series. Now doing the fifth, but I am less than enthused about it. Mostly, I do not use hints, but when push comes to shove "what the heck"....In VI, there is the so called "monkey" puzzle that I have not been able to negotiate. I know all of the details of how to do the puzzle, but these old muscles will not coordinate that much. ha

Xer, that Montezuma guy did a job on all of Greenville...Lots of people running and running. Flora nor I ever felt really sick, just on the run. hoho Fine and dandy today and we plan a B&N trip which is always fun.

Pikes, I not up to it right now (time), but I would like to pass on to you my take on Electronic and Electromechanical Engineers as I experienced them. Perhaps my observations would interest you.

My recent non-scientific take is that the more intelligent (IMHO) people I have met here are God believers.

oc...AND a tremendous 2009 to all....

Well Pikes, I pretty much wrote the little piece and then tossed it. You see, I had to preface it with the time frame of 1952 - 1989 and who gives a hoot about those yesteryears now! Times change and esp so in the technology fields.

oc...but I have really enjoyed your and Jen's exchanges on music.

I hoot. When you share your knowledge and experience, you live on in me, and I will pass it on to someone new, and in that way, you are eternal. You know aspects of those years none but you know, and that is too precious to toss. So if you can hoot, hoot.

Thanks, Pikes. We were a small group, but had a nice easy going day. Life is good. Stepson returned from visiting his nephews in Texas. Last night he came over to play X-Box with me. He really came over to see how I liked my new gifts. Yep, the crazy lady I'm married to didn't want me going stir crazy during the non-motorcycling months, so she bought me an X-Box to keep me occupied. Wadda gal! That is something I would never have gotten for myself. The gift from the stepson was a game for it, FALLOUT 3. Cool game, wish I could take it to India with us, but that darned X-Box is heavy!

Thanks, Pikes. It's still white. Believe it or now, the wife had never seen "It's a Wonderful Life" before, so when sis wanted to watch it Christmas evening, we did. Nice ol' movie that. Still love Jimmy Stewart.
