How To Make a Watermark
Open a new transparent canvas
Write your text. It doesn't matter what color you choose as it will be gone when you're finished.
Create whatever strikes your fancy; from basic text to dings.
Once you've created your watermark, make sure all your layers which contain an element for the final effect are merged.
(Layers > Merge > Merge all)
Next go up to :
Selections > Select all
Selections > Float
Selections > Defloat
You should now have marching ants all around what will become your watermark.
Next, go up to :
Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
using these settings ::
Vertical : 1
Horizontal : 0
Opacity : 100
Blur : 1
Color : black
You're going to add another drop shadow, keeping the marching ants around everything but this time your setting is ::
Vertical : 0
Horizontal : -1
Opacity : 100
Blur : 1
Color : black
Now hit the Delete key.
This removes what you typed and all underlying drop shadow and leaves a clean outline of your watermark.
Go up to Selections > Selections None. The marching ants should be gone.
Now, you can keep this as a tube if you'd like and pull it up every time you want to use it, or, if it's something you're going to be using often, you can create a brush from it.
This is pretty easy to do.
Just go up to File > Export > Custom Brush
Name your brush. I usually start the name with ! (i.e.: !watermark) so it will be at the begining of the list of brushes and makes it easy to find)
Variant is set at 32. Click ok.
Now you can access your watermark any time you'd like.
