My parents who are politically emotional people (like I am) were distraught after Hillary Clinton did not make the nomination and out of anger vowed to vote for the other party. Well, mom just let me know that she and my stepfather (former Marine) voted for Obama! So, I am a proud son! It was really bothering me that they would do this and although they are both registered Independents, they have always voted sensibly and for Democratic senators, congressional representatives, and presidents. I think Diane Feinstein has had my mother's vote since the day she left the mayors office in San Francisco and ran for state senate some 30+ years ago I think. The point of all of this. Too many people follow the mood without checking out the facts. They allow their vote to be influenced by their friends who have been influenced from someone else who did not think for themselves. I convinced a friend of mine this morning that our new charity corporation (Back to the Basics Please) that she is most excited about, and will probably be a donor of, may have a tough time of it under a McCain administration. Our chances of making our new found corporation work are much better under an Obama administration! Facts are facts and McCain has said repeatedly that he will cut dollars to addiction and behaviorial health foundations and leave them to the faith based foundations. How dare he! She (my friend) had no idea, and may have voted for McCain because that's what the neighborhood seems to be doing. She is an intelligent person but her attention has been centered on other matters. She did not realize just how important our political system is and how it directly affects the success of what we are trying to do here. So before I file for the corporate license (at which time I'll have to learn how to keep my mouth shut) please, if you value the future of independent, and clinical foundations that support advocacy for integrated concepts to improve the progress of successfully treating addiction, STD prevention/treatments, and behaviorial maladies, please vote for progressive (not conservative) politics! Phew, should have broken up that sentence Again I am very proud of my parents and my good friend for coming to their good senses Brandon |

I am happy to report that my parents are among the continuously sane people in Florida . . . They are among those who never even considered voting for George Bush! They both voted for Obama without any hesitation . . . My mom has had a not so secret crush on Joe Biden for quite some time . . . and . . . As they approach 63 years of marriage, my father doesn't feel threatened by that!! Mark Actually, my aunt in Tampa who is a "good Baptist woman" never like George W. Bush . . . and "liked Obama" just by watching him on television . . . Pleased me even if I wouldn't have expected either from her!! LOL!! |
