CDC HIV/AIDS Update

A new Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) has recently been published by CDC.  Revised Surveillance Case Definitions for HIV Infection Among Adults, Adolescents, and Children Aged <18 Months and for HIV Infection and AIDS Among Children Aged 18 Months to <13 Years --- United States, 2008 is now available.

For adults and adolescents (i.e., persons aged >13 years), the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection classification system and the surveillance case definitions for HIV infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) have been revised and combined into a single case definition for HIV infection. In addition, the HIV infection case definition for children aged <13 years and the AIDS case definition for children aged 18 months to <13 years have been revised. No changes have been made to the HIV infection classification system, the 24 AIDS-defining conditions for children aged <13 years, or the AIDS case definition for children aged <18 months. These case definitions are intended for public health surveillance only and not as a guide for clinical diagnosis. Public health surveillance data are used primarily for monitoring the HIV epidemic and for planning on a population level, not for making clinical decisions for individual patients. CDC and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists recommend that all states and territories conduct case surveillance of HIV infection and AIDS using the 2008 surveillance case definitions, effective immediately.

Surveillance???? Does this imply or mean the government is kinda watching all reported HIV/AIDS cases ??? Now, I wouldnt dout it ,I just wanted to see if what you said is the same thing I was thinking you meant ??? I have said for yrs to friends and family that eventually HIV/AIDS patients would be monitored and questioned regularly on their "lifestyle" practices. I would even go so far as to beleive whats is said about the New World Order will come to pass.I dout in my lifetime i will see it but i do think eventually there will be human euthenization for the elderly, the disabled and people with fatal diseases like cancer/aids,etc..Some countries already euthenize babies born deformed or disfigured. Of course, to the families, THEY will make us feel like it's the humane thing to do and in the interest and concern for the person to be euthenized.
It's all very very scary to me!!!!!! Thank God I am still clean and sober otherwise i would go insane!!!!!!
Sorry for bringing up such a horrific thought. It all just rushed to my head when I saw the word "surveillance".
peace and love,
   contry

OMG Contry!  Where have you been?!?  What is up?  So good to see you  Here we were all wondering what had happened to you.

As far as the post, they survey everything for good and not so good reasons but I would rather know what the heck has been going on with you my friend?

hmmmmm, well, with me,hmmmmm. Lots is going on really. I had the two back surgeries,a lower discectomy as well as a fusion in my neck to fuse 3 vertibrate( i think thats how its spelt(lol) My partner retired from the police force, moved here to the country in NC. I am sometimes insane, but still clean and sober going on 4 yrs now. I never thought i would make it this far and with this maniac of a partner i sometimes wonder if i'll nake it another day ,yet, i keep asking My higher power for another sober day and its given to me.
I am not sure if y'all knew but the day i was released to go back to work after the 2nd back surgery the company i had worked at for 8 yrs laid me off before i could even clock in the first day of my return. I was unemplyed for almost a yr. Doctor bills pileing up,no insurance and a small unemployment check made it very hard to get by. Luckily my partner and my niece were paying their 3rd of all the bills otherwise i would have lost my little 2 acre farm. See how God does wonders and works in our lives !!!!!
Well, the next town over had built the building for a new wal-mart and I found out they were hiring people to help put all the shelves,etc... up as well as to stay on to work there. They hired me for the produce dept but at the time there was nothing but a floor, walls and the electricians there. I helped all the folks and management set everything up. I was hired in january 2008 and we opened march 2008. I was just a worker bee in the produce dept. Then the supervisor, who was very unhappy with her position decided to transfer to her hometown in upstate new york. I took the supervisor test and applied for the job and i got it. I whent from a level 4 pay grade to a level 7. I just had my yr evaluation and am getting a forty cent raise. I guess i could say life is gr8 other than the occasional disagreements with my partner and my inner fight with myself. By Gods grace i am still clean and sober. The many things that make my life insane tend to be outside of myself ie; my family,my partner,my job and helping care for my mom.
Sometimes i am very very down, today is one of those days. Even with all the good that is going on in my life i still feel the tug of the worlds pain deep within me. Right now I just want to go to bed and cry but ,not me, im too proud to do either when i am in mental agony. Im too strong to let the bad in my life take back over and bring me to my knees before the power of alcohol and drugs.
One of the goats died this morning to wich my partner fully blames me for. He says i do not react fast enough when he tells me a goat is ill. Although he will tell me one is ill at 9 pm when i get home but the next morning he will say it looks like its doing better so i figure if its doing better then i dont need to do anything. Its a long story but today has not exactly been a good day. It should have been, as yesterday wal-mart had a visit from the home office with several of the biggest names within the company who told me my department looked better yesterday than it did on grand opening. I should be happy but with all this blame being put on my shoulders i feel terrible and guilty though realisticly i know i shouldnt. AA has tought me not to take what other people say personaly and that it is them lashing out at their own feelings of guilt but no matter how hard i try not to feel bad it still happens. Yet, i am still sober. Aint God wonderful, to keep me sober even thru all this.
Well, i reckon y'all have heard enough, i got supper to cook and xleaning to do. Y'all have a great day and thanks a heap for thinkin of me when i am not always able to write anything back to the group. However, i do make it to my email at least once a week and read thru the emails i get from it.

Wow Contry!  Quite a bit going on.  I can relate believe me as I am going through similar things.
Just got back from Phoenix after a big medical test.  That is just going on and on, and on!  My bf and I are on the outs and that's a pisser right before the holidays

But, back to you!  No matter what as you know we don't have to use or drink, you know that and for four years now you know you can make it without letting the booze into the equation!

Contraire, there are quite a few things going on that are great and of course that is what we must concentrate on.  I know I must concentrate on the good and I have to remind myself to.  If you are like me; however, I must have my pity party moments, go through them, let them pass, and pull myself up.  Don't dare let anyone tell me about Ethiopians starving when I am having my well deserved pity party moment.  It's my party and I'll cry if I want tobut we get over it hopefully quickly, pick up and appreciate what we do have in our lives.  Peace and peace of mind is greater than all the gold foretold in Irish lore but tell that to the Leprechaun!

The best to you in the building of your career with Wal-Mart.  Obviously there is opportunity there.  They could probably bailout all the banks and the American automakers by writing one single check!

And, I am sorry about your goat.  You had the best intention and made the best judgement call based on the information that you had at the moment....I'm sure your decision was not based in irresponsibility.

I hope to hear more from you Contry.  As you may or may not know, MSN is closing their old style Groups but there are plenty of user groups and a new website that we have expanded onto located on the What's New Page!  The lights here however, go out February 21st, 2009.

Take care!

Brandon
