I’d wrap my arms around the world if I could,
And hold all the weeping children.
I’d comfort them and love them like my own,
If I could, and be a “Mummy?just for them.
I’d feed all the starving, if I could,
So they wouldn’t go hungry for another day.
They’d stand strong beside me with a smile
On their face.
I’d give them that smile, if I could.
I’d cloth the naked, protect their bare skin
from the biting cold of winter.
I’d keep them warm, if I could.
I’d build them a house,
A place to call home,
To be safe and secure between the walls.
I’d give them that place, if I could.
The tears would stop falling like a river
Down their face,
Their frail bodies wouldn’t shiver
Through the night.
Death would no longer threaten their existence,
And they’d live in a perfect world.
I’d create that world, if I could.
