   A SELECTION OF CHILDRENS POEMS

{written for Charli}

BAGLEDON

Have you heard of Bagledon

A special cat he was.

Not tortoiseshell nor tabby

But, green with yellow paws .

Well, that was on a Tuesday,

Some days he was quite pale.

On Sundays, he was scarlet red,

With a glowing orange tail!

Of course... if he was feeling blue,

 He might be shocking pink.

When coloured all invisible,

He'd not be where you'd think.

To find him, put a little milk

In a saucer on the floor,

Then watch the milk fill up inside,

And...there he'd be, once more.

ISEEME

I see me in the mirror,

Can you see me too?

Come look at how I see me.

Hey! That’s not me...it's you!

The Moving Stone

Elber Efelbee
Sat on a stone
Then lay back under the sun.

He slept sooo sound,
But woke - and found,
His stone was on the run.

"What's going on?
I can't get off
And what's that wheezing noise?"

He looked around
And found the sound,
His stone...was a tired tortoise!

THE NOT SO DUMB DORMOUSE

Dippy Dizzy Dormouse

believed what he had heard,

The ears of golden, ripened corn,

could hear his every word.

He'd hibernate in winter,

waking hungry at springtime.

Hear..."Who's been nibbling at my ears?"

"Not me he'd shrug and mime.

He knew he mustn't tell a lie,

so, nothing he would say.

The corn thought Dippy was quite dumb,

but he grew fatter ... day by day!

I KNOW - YOU KNOW!

Mummy...how do rainbows
Know the colours they should be
And why do all the pretty leaves
Just fall down from that tree?

And Mummy...how do flowers
Know what they are and when to grow?
Does the grass want to be... cut?
All these things I want to know

How can babies live in tummies
And huge planes stay in the sky?
My world is full of questions
But, I know...you'll tell me why!!!
