Gentle Warrior
I'm holding onto a hope
that seems to be fading
quicker than Winter's light,
clinging to the thinning threads of time,
because I know that time is your only saviour.
But those hands do not heal you...
They simply leave footprints
in the sand, as you are guided
to a place you've never been,
blinded and so trusting in a power
which is no longer yours.
An army surrounds you...
They push you into No Man's Land
and you fight... You carry on
fighting as you've always fought.
But you are weaker now,
more delicate than you've ever been
and less fragile than you'll ever be.
The battlefield lies empty,
there's only you left in this war,
you cannot win,
yet you refuse to lose.
I ask you,
My gentle warrior,
lay down your sword and I'll sleep
soundly by your side.
We can end this war together.
My tears will not sting you
as they fall from tired eyes,
memories will keep us safe
as we dream, wrapped
in the sound of only one heartbeat...
The heartbeat that is mine.
My gentle warrior,
please surrender.
I love you like life.
