Forgotten Memories
There is a place
that is cold and dark
it has but a little light
filtering through a curtained window.
There are some leather-upholstered chairs
they are cold and stark
and in the corner is a shelf
that has many books that have
dust collected over many years.
The floor has a threadbare rug
that once had colours woven through it
now fabric is broken
floorboards peeking through holes.
There are some faded photos above
a mantle piece once proud
now a tapestry of dust and webs
the candles no longer burn.
And memories linger
of times long gone
when this room was filled with life
as music colour lit the room.
A silent pause
time stands still
as the thud of the ball
smashes through the wall.
