freedom is a funny word
it covers many things
we think we're free to make choices
but I challenge this premise
freedom is but a word
many have fallen in its name
in the fight for this dream~ of
what is still yet to be defined
freedom is a misused word
perhaps also the most misunderstood
yet it is the primary goal of many
and they will not be denied
freedom is a prayer
it carries with it hope
and those who do not have it crave it
and those who are free don't know it
freedom is a gift
each of us have within us
and now it is the time
for you and I to reclaim it.
