An Unlikely Story...fullstop.

Amid the many shouts and tears
be sure to never let her run alone at the fair
race you will with this winsome mare
you find yourself holding many of the day's hidden fears

Huge muscular arms forcefully hurl spears
they say to handle with care
be found not to linger or cast a stare
as it is said she is always at odds with her peers

Hours spent engaged with the engineers
following pathways which others not dare
beware, not to be caught alone in her lair
or the last you will hear will be the crowds jeers

~an unlikely hero of her day among many pioneers.

Cara July 2008

This poem was inspired by Boudica who was a queen of the Iceni tribe of East Anglia (early first century)who led an uprising of the tribes against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire.
