A Christmas Long Ago
by Don Tyson
The room was littered with gift wrap.
There were boxes scattered about.
Trucks and little toy soldiers
Were piled on the floor
Near all the brand new clothes.
The kitchen sink still held
Stacks of breakfast dishes,
As Mom and Dad took a break
From all the Christmas wishes.
Alone in the corner little Donnie played
With some clothespins and an oatmeal box,
Oblivious to time and all of his new toys.
