Phoenix Rising
Shall we sing a song of November?
This night before the leaping fire?
Shall I spin you a tale you already know?
Then listen, if you will, and heed your desire.
Can I tempt you? Shall I torment you?
Listen, then, all you who would hear?/FONT>
Of The Phoenix.
It shone in the brightness of the dawn
It flew in the wind of mind’s delight
It gathered the worthy when it was born
To bear witness to the beauty of flight.
Firebird! Spinning through the skies of thought.
Searing mundanities with burning wings,
Streaking comet trails through blaze of heart
Off all things ?the Phoenix Sings!
It was life unleashed and hope released.
It was freedom for the minds of the few.
An unbound Quickening soaring aloft -
Freewheeling wings of Mindfire flew!
It burned the eyes with its beauty?BR>Seared the soul with its fire,
The one day, it turned its eye to heaven
And the inferno wings?began to tire.
All things in their season
It’s beauty
Dimmed.
Pale, lonely sparks
Fell from fading feathers?/FONT>
It’s glory fades in the gathering night.
Do I raise my hood in silent despair?
Is the light that blazed defiant flight
So weak as to be banished from air?
I think not.
Watch now!
See how it settles?BR>Settles in the embers that birthed it ?BR>Its light burns
Out.
Wait... Watch...
The ashes stir - It waits only for you and I.
It hears our thoughts, it knows our names.
Awaiting only the breath of the few -
The Phoenix Rising, reborn in Our flames.
These words are done.
The tale goes on.
Listen, all you who would hear.
