Have you had a big build up to the up and coming Olympic Games?
Except for the ourtrage over the violence surrounding the torch relay
we have had very little publicity surrounding the games. This is unusual for us.
Not  sure why. I love the games my self and hope that I get time to watch my favorite events. I love the gymnastics and diving most and that is closely followed by the swimming events. I do enjoy the track and field but dont mind if I miss it.

What to you think about the Olympics? Is is something that interests you ?

Cara

Hi Cara,

I guess we're making up for what you're missing. The BBC have gone way over the top with the publicity. "Olympic Breakfast News", "Olympics Today", "Olympic News"... you get the picture. I've watched the diving and gymnastics but, to be honest, I can take or leave the rest of it.

I love the stadium, though. Pretty impressive!

I have a sport mad son, so the olympic coverage is on constantly here and when he's at his summer job it all has to be recorded!  I enjoy watching it too, the swimming especially which was my favoured sport when younger but I love the gymnastics, sprints, rowing etc.

For me, it is something special to watch these talented people strive to attain and do their best.  The dedication that athletes put into their training.  This IS there big moment, all that they have ever dreamed of.  We have to remember that for athletes it is only for a short time, that they are at the top of their form!

Hy Cara, I don't watch the news all that often these days,
but France does seem to be giving The Olympics quite a bit of air time,
just saw tonight that they have won two golds, and both names are already hung
in specific places with the winners names on them, so they are with it all the way.

I remember reading the horrendous costing for the London Olympics, The Village, Security, City Road Realignment, Redevelopement of the area, etc. etc.and I'm afraid that side of it does annoy me in a world so badly in need of financial support (not least...Britian).

But I take to heart what Emma says, this is a one event in four years which can make or break a career in sport, and the ability of the participents, has to be admired.
The Winter Olympics and the Ice Skating events are my favourites to watch, Zy
