Hi Cara
I've been having the same problems. It took me an hour yesterday to post one poem and write one comment on another.
I don't know if its just my computer or if it is msn itself. I have noticed that mid afternoon seems a particularly bad time to post here. Unfortunately that is the time when I have those spare moments to post!
Also, every time I get on to the site, I have to sign in, which again takes time, depending if msn will behave or not.
It drives me crazy sometimes - as much as msn is easy to use - it is soooooo frustrating as well.
I wonder how long this will take to post?

Hello, Cara, Emma and Lincus, I am totally aware of the frustrations and have been searching for an alternative, but it is not an execise which can be done in a hurry and see Multiply as our immediate only option. Afterwards it will be easier to take time or relocate by a link, but the main criteria is to save the corner as a whole, with members work intact. Unfortunately..I now know all I need to know about MSN usage and all facilities, but this is the only one I do really know and Multiply has neither appealed to me nor warmed to my attempts to familiarise myself with it as a 'group' set-up. I have developed a site of my own in Multiply somewhat, but as my pc is playing up, as one edits...if the page/box is lost without publiction...it is lost completely. This has been happening to me when my pc switches off in the middle of an exercise. So before I can develope anything, I am loosing things. I do not understand the use of 'tags' and do not mind saying so. I have posted more than one SOS to any members for help. and despite the fact they have now opened their own sites (some with help)....no assistance has been forthcoming. (except for Gordon, who has kept in touch re his discoveries etc) but I cannot stay switched on long enough to gleam much nor do I think he has yet uncovered the secret of migration. In my opinion, we have to migrate as soon as possible, but this will only be able to be done with help from somewhere...and to be honest...it has become a bit of a headache for me alone and not one I am coping with on my own. My pc problems are probably due to the amount of 'new sitw' surfing I have been doing of late that my pc is now, after being fine with a new Wifi connection, not holding its power and I dare not use it in communications for fear of passing whatever it is on. This is my husbands pc I am using. I have now approached a friend to enquire of their friend if they can help, but as I do not know them, and if they can, there will no doubt be a charge...this I will meet to migrate the corner successfully if that is possible and my only course of action on my own. Frustration and disappointment have become my companions since the announcement of the closure, so please bear with me and if there is only me to do something...I will try to in the near future, but...this migration thing was not on the job description role of poetry interacton when I took the post as manager and it is, as I said, something which I am not having an easy time with, regards to all, Zy |

I am sorry to read sheer frustration on your part Zy and empathize...I wish I knew more about systems and programs...I am totally frustrated with Multiply and hate it...but if there is anything I can help you with, and can, I will Zy...you have the best group I have come across, I hope you can continue to keep going in the future...best of luck Zy. Thanks Zy and Lincus
Lincus I think you are of the same mind as me - the structure and culture of these sites do not attract me at all. In fact I see the potential of a lot of unpleasantness with the way these sites are arranged. I'm not and have never been a blog person and from what I can see of multiply, is good work getting lost.
If I had the resources I would love to build my own custom made site but it involves far more technical experience than I have and a supply of money which I don't have lol. Sadly I think the days of 'free' sites are going to be limited to what we see on multiply.
I've been looking around at sites on there - I temporarily moved my private work over, just in order to make sure it wasn't lost.
I do empathise with you also Zy, and I agree that probably as a temporary measure moving to multiply does seem the only option at present if we are to keep the group going.
I do feel msn are rather rushing us, despite their february deadline and I suppose I feel a little reluctant to be pushed.
Good luck Zy, I hope all your pc problems are resolving - I know how frustrating they are.

Thanks so much for at least having an insight to the problems going on, Maria and Emma, and thanks Maria, for your offered help, but the help is such that it is a case of knowing what do do to migrate...finding a new home such as msn is actually a lost cause, especially with this time pressure being applied. Emma, you have hit just the nail on the head....two weeks ago, we had three months and a fornight later, it has to/should be done as soon as possible. Choosing a new home is not an easy task when even amongst we here... we are not keen on the options. I have short-listed three places and would actually use Freewebs 'if' I could get an answer to 'Do they have a migration program/tool in place?' The three options I have in mind are Multiply, Yuku or Aimoo, but as you say, all are glorified blogging sites, but Multiply and Aimoo are the two who definately can do the migration...am still reading conflicting comments about Yuku. Wherever bbc poetry corner goes, the contents will be saved and in tact and we can keep it going until the time when another solution can be uncovered in less haste...I am finding the timing element of twelve weeks to go, now being 'essencially iminent' only two weeks later, somewhat 'back against a wall' and I don't work well that way, and as you say, Emma...I don't like being pushed either, but c'est la vie, it seems, thanks both for your input, Zy xx |

Hy, Poets, there are going to be changes made in the appearance of the Corner, in preparation of migration. Since pictures do not travel well and are advised to come from Photobucket or other sources, albums will be deleted, as will other 'face' pages.... the decorative part of running the site which I have so enjoyed. Bear with me as Merlin and I try to overcome this migration thing... progress is being made, but I promise that I will keep looking for as close to here as possible, Zy |

Hi Zy
I had a look at Aimoo and found that slightly easier than multiply, still not a format I take easily to but I did feel it had definite possibilities. I set up an account there, with far less difficulty than I had had with multiply (which I have since deleted from multiply). The migration process takes longer and I still haven't worked that out as yet but after browsing I definitely preferred Aimoo.
