Hi Zyhda - USB dongles can be plugged in and out as required and unless the machine or it's operating system pre-date the plu and play facility they will effectively operate as intended with very little effort.  Some may need a little more attention than others as the 'firmware' within the dongle may vary a bit......

 

Generally they will have a disc provided if they do need some help, but if you do use one then the external wireless card would become redundant.

 

I think we had my son's system hooked up and running in about 5 minutes.  Hope that helps a little!
