AN EMPTY WIND
(Diminished Hexaverse ~ six line stanza with six syllabled lines diminishing to only one)
I searched the hollow air
But failed to find you there
Sweet echoes on the breeze
Remind how we did please,
Sweet were we, you and I,
Whispered memories cry.
Diamond tears fall
The wind on my face
Burns into your place,
Time has won the race.
I know you won't call.
Emptiness claims,
Loneliness maims
Breaking the chains
Down silent lanes.
I'd needed
And pleaded
Unheeded
Wind dies,
Breeze sighs,
Gone.
