There’s a quietness in the night that wait’s for your confession Whispers come in shadows and you wish for comfort Secrets are hidden in this darkness, But you refuse to give yours up. A silence then is only inevitable.
Stillness takes place around you, This makes you so frightened, As you hold your breath and wait.
Finally, a sound breaks through the night’s tension, It’s your sobbing fear, Why didn’t you tell me you were afraid of the dark?

Dear Bear,
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I recenlty found out that a friend the same age as myself is terrified of the dark. I found her in a room with the lights out crying. She was so afraid and embarrassed. I felt to so sorry for her, beacuse she has every right for reasons I can't say to be scared. I hope in time she can overcome this fear.

Hi Melody, I can empathise with this so easily as, for a long time, I was afraid of the dark (also for personal reasons). A gripping write! Poetess xx |

Well captured, Melody, this makes the statement that many cannot, the dark can be a frightening place and there is nothing to be ashamed of in leaving a hall light on and the door open, I still do. Your words held me in reading, Zy |

Dear Poetess,
I think most of us as children are afraid of the dark, but then when we get older we overcome that fear. But for personal reasons, sometimes that fear stays. Thank you for understanding, and finding the time to reply.

Dear Dix,
I'm glad you liked my poem, and I'm not crazy about heights either, lol. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Dear Zy,
Thank you for understanding. We all have our ways of finding our comforts whether it's from a hall light or just by simply leaving the door open. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I believe that as children we all developed some sort of fear whether of the dark, the boogey man under the bed, heights or being in small places. I just cannot remember what made me scared of heights! |
