I look over my shoulder
and there is no wake.
My ship sails on into
distant horizons,
my passengers and
my crew are on board
but, as I look back...
my wake ~ is calm and flat

Hi Zy,

You've left your mark both here on this site and in the great poetry that you write. You'll never be forgotten.

I think that the wake isn't as flat as it seems to be.

Poetess

Calm in Zy?  Never!  Hope after the raging waters subside in your life, you can relax and write rhyme until dawn!  Very clever.

Mmnnn.....thanks for your lovely replies to this late night scribble, Poets,
but really, the flat wake is about the fact that the four of us are going and
we have no other family left to look back at... or pull on strings of leaving.

This has happened to a number of our friends who have moved abroad already,
one or the other have left family members behind and particularly elderly parents worry them a bit, (and grand children) but we are insularly on board with no wake when we look back.

Cyber friends are still the same distance of the keyboard away anyways, wherever, and live friends see no distance in visiting since so many of our group already have gone....
just a thought of physical departure from the UK shores, Zy
