Bravely pushing through the brown earth
Dislodging last year's leaves
A green shoot appears.
Onwards and upwards it reaches
For the light.
Gradually it unfurls its secret
To display a perfect white flower
Nodding in the slight breeze.
A harbinger of Spring,
The Snowdrop.

Beautiful flower ... this...could it be Lily of Valley, or Star of Bethlehem? ... I liked the thought of spring, your poem makes me smile...thanks for sharing Jayne,

A lovely poem Jayne, those first two lines had me worried though....
I thought maybe you had moles in the lawn

Moles Steve?  Such a wondrous breath of Spring Jayne!

Dear Steve, moles would bore their way thru the earth and not come up bravely lol.  I fear I do not see flowers coming up down here.  They have to be planted lol.

This is such a beautiful poem, Jayne. A breath of Spring in this cold, cold winter.

Peter, I'm so pleased that I'm not the only one who has daffodils in full bloom at this time of year! Mine have been in full bloom since November. Weird or what?

Poetess

You have a delicate touch with your poet's pen, Jayne,
this is beautifully worded, the heralding of spring (normally), but,
here in the south, we have had mimosa on our tree since before Christmas and
daffs opened last month, long before the snowdrops this time, Zy

Hy, Jayne, in Add-a-Stanza, see left hand index,

the new genre is Spring, this would sit very well in there.

It is not post and reply, simply a short inspired piece about named subject,
posted as replies in add on fashion, one after the other, this would be a perfect addition, Zy
