flying coach

crammed together tightly
with little room to breathe
one hundred thirty people
stuck in a flying tube

a tiny little aisle between
two rows of seats
hardly even big enough
for large people to fit into

the attendants are resplendent
in the company's raiment
they quickly repeat the safety brief
as I fidget in my seat

they say we can watch a movie
for a crisp five dollar bill
and it will cost a dollar for
water to take my pills

oh how I long for the days
when a customer was king
times are tough and costs so high
I think from now on I'll drive, not fly

Great accounting of travel by air...I see the changes...the irksome things we go through...feel like we've been fleeced...

Nice to see you again Bear.

With prices so high, I think I'll stick to walking on dry land. If I want to go abroad, I'll swim there and back.

I'm afraid I'm one of those nuts who loves flying but am becoming more aware of reducing my carbon foot print - but living where I do, flying is a necessity - this gave me a wry smile, some of the cheaper flights are certainly less comfortable
