AUTUMNAL THIEF
How can you do this
Time after time?
You insiduously creep in
And you touch me,
You touch me so deeply.
Stealing my gold,
You peal the colour from
My wardrobe.
Just for the briefest moment
You fool so many
With you chameleon charm.
You are subtle, as you
Smelt my gold to bronze,
But then, you strike.
Death and the deepest slumber
Follow in your wake,
As the silvery iced tendrils
And the steel edged winds,
Take what you have withered.
Yet, for that moment of wonder...
You stand, in your emblazened glory.
