I tried to write words down

To tell you how much I loved you

But they wouldn’t come out right

I’ve sat here trying most of the night

I tried to tell you

How much it would ache my heart

If we were ever to part

I tried time after time

But couldn’t get the words to rhyme

I tried to say you meant the world to me

That you were life itself; you see.

But it didn’t sound right to me

I scribbled away on a pad

Trying to write words to make you glad

There are crumpled pages on the floor

Trying to say you’re the one I adore.

If I were an artist

I could paint a picture of you

But some how I cannot find the words

To simply say, I love you.
