I have read this a few times, Pip, as I lost the time sequence in the first, got it on the second but pondered the significance of the 'eight hours more' (think was looking too deeply) and now on my third, have completely enjoyed escaping into the wandering thoughts of  Ben.

 

Like lb, it 'could' have been longer for me too, if only because I found it compellingly well composed, but it does work well as a shorter story and I would think an excellent magazine piece, I have read less involving ones many times in some of my purchases.

 

I wonder if you intend to use it to that end, Pip, it is certainly good enough, Zy
