Dark and Light
Troubled thoughts and images pursue me through the dark of night I turn and seek some hiding place to save me from such fright But if my feet were frozen into blocks of frigid ice They could not be more rooted in that environment of spite
Come some waking shivers that elevate me with a start Pounding drums invade my head with the rhythms of my heart A slow release from those terrors proceeds with the vigour of a snail Tremors rise from deep within the wounds where they did impale
And as the weight of icey gloom thaws in it's drip drop pace My conscious mind reactivates and ponders - is it just the human race That sees such a range of unwordly beasts and actions in the night Certain that my dogs do dream but are they chasing or in flight
Garnish my dreams with light I ask as I settle down once more Weariness from battling those hobgoblins takes me to the land of snore Low on in the background are distracting sounds from my radio Will they keep the sprites at bay as under slumbers rules I go
