Stocky,
What do you know about them??
One of the few that went up today.
Are they holding a lot of platinum or other metals??
Is it a good balancing play?
How about a chart with 200 and 50 day lines??

Stocky,
I really do not know.  I brought it up because it was not responding the same as the other Gold/Silvers, so it had to have something else backing it up. (sort of like fcx has its copper).

From your chart, it still appears well above its 50 dma and the 200 is out of sight.  I would like to understand it a little better, but I think it may be a candidate for the core holdings if it comes down to touch the 50 again.  We can bring anything else we learn back to this string to keep an eye on it.

I probably need to understand what Palladium is used in and what the demand for it is.
I am sure Bubbles could give us the skinny on it??  what say you Bluey??

On your sideline note - no disagreement here (see my comment on the end of the other string).  I would not be surprised to see Gold spend some time consolidating here, 400 seems to be holding up pretty well.  If it won't go down to the 200, in about 60 days, the 200 will catch back up.  That probably won't keep the shares from giving up a few more % points, but I can live with it.  Not planning to buy anything right now and not willing to sell at these levels - so I guess I may be on the sideline for a while. But I could change my mind.

The Russians bought up SWC when it was about $2.50..............The 1000 dma of SWC sits at about $20........and if CSCO can suck up to its 1000 dma....so can SWC........it just seems that some majic hand is guiding all these stocks toward their 1000 dma

Which means that some good oil and gas stocks pe6 -pe 10, and some gold stocks that are way above their 1000 dma....may go for a plundge.

And that is why some no earning worthless shit is soaring upwards towards its 1000 dma.

Many years ago Greenspan said that there was no easy way to evalueate companies.....and now it seems.......that the evaluation becomes.....what the average sucker paid for the stock over the last 4 years.....that is the price......and in the case of SWC ....which now sells for $12........that majic 1000 dma is at $20...

so some federal monkey....will goose the price of SWC to at least $20....and then see if it sinks or swims on its own merits

So Bubbles,
You saying SWC is a good buy now??
You won't change your tune when the direction of the wind changes??
If this is like your CDE call back when it was 1.35, then I could go for it.
I still have those 1000 shares (actually, I only have 500 of those left because I let the other 500 go last week when Imson was calling for CDE to implode and I never got around to restocking them - but I will).

I should have bought this one back in Dec when Stocky and I first looked at it.  It goes counter to Gold at times.  Guess I will just pick a price in the morning and go for it.  I am holding you to your $20 call on this, so don't be changing in the morning.

Say er mr Sapper...........I did buy SWC....at $5.50 , $4.50 and a large amount at  $2.70........I did unload the shares at about $4.90..........I was happy........I was floggin the shares on this board......with charts......at the time Norske Nickel got their 51%......

SWC has a long term hedge to sell palladium to one of the car companies for $850 an ounce........the going price for palladium now is 150 to $250 an ounce.....mining costs are $400 an ounce........

SWC seems to act more like a NASDAQ company than it does a precious metals company............most gold companies must now tank to reach their 1000 dma........most nasdaq companies must soar to reach their 1000 dma......

I think it will soar above its 1000 dma....of $20

What I dont understand...is how one can evaluate companies like SWC.....and I supose evaluating the company by how much the average buyer paid for the stock over the last 4 years is as good a way as any..........

And do we have liftoff on SWC ???
Also watching PAL along with SWC.
I've got my swc, still need to get pal - perhaps I should have moved yesterday,
but was busy and didn't get a chance to look until after the fireworks.

Time to begin looking to reload on both PAL and SWC.
They both recovered half their total move today.

For now, I will target PAL for about 8.85
and SWC for about 12.00.

If we can get this pullback to extend into early next week, we may have a shot at them.  If not, I could live with PAL at its close of 9.30 today, but SWC still seems a bit pricey at 12.86.

just my thoughts.

Got my PAL at 8.85 and got reloaded with SWC at 11.85 yesterday, so now am one happy camper.  I will consider adding more of either if they were to drop further in the next few days, but I am happy with these entry points.

Targets for both -  SWC - around 13.50 and PAL - around 10.50.  If they approach those levels, we will re assess the current market conditions.

Also did some gold shopping this morning and picked up a few shares of MNG to replace the ones I unloaded a couple weeks back.  Nothing else got to where I wanted it, but many came very close.   Now, it sort of looks like someone is beginning to cover on GSS, so the broad metals may start back up from here.
I am still fishing for a few more in just a little deeper water, I may have to rebait my hooks.

But then again, I could be just dreaming wishful thoughts.

SWC reported lousy earnings and got taken out and shot this morning.

I snagged a few more shares on the way down - didn't set the bait quite deep enough and now am wondering if I should grab a few more on the way back up (or if the beating is over yet).  The part that sucks is I was very close to unloading what I had this morning when it first opened and started down, but I hesitated while I looked for news.  By then, the rout had started.  No reason to believe it will last and it appears to have found solid support at 11 to 11.20.  I have another hook out at 11.01 and it may snag a stray during the confusion.

I did bail on my PAL, in sympathy and am looking again for a reentry.

this stuff is not for the weak of heart.

As foreigners running a cartel is illegal as far as the USA is concerned.........When Russia s Norske Nickel purchased most of Stillwater , Norske Nickel gave Stillwater the "rights" to market palladium "in an orderly fashion".......ie.....it may mean to fix the price above production costs.....of about $400 an ounce........there is an excess of palladium.........

the earlier attemts by Putin to choke of supplies in the year 2000 were sucessfull.....it got the major auto companies to sign up 10 year hedge programs for palladium at $1000 an ounce on their foward contracts.............PAL has one with ford, and SWC signed up others.............the other half of their production goes to the spot market....which sucks at $150 to $250 an ounce................

Palladium is critical in the next number of years as it will be used as the fuel cell catalyst along with platinum...........presently there is not enough production of palladium , and platinum.......to run much fuel cells.........
