I learned in US History that when people were first exploring the west and going into California, a group of people ("The Donner Party") turned a different way than the rest of the group and went the the Sierra Nevadas - where E5 was- and the weather was terrible and they couldn't survive, I mean people were dying and the rest of them turned to cannibalism!    scary!  that could've been right near where we were!
