"I'm looking for a woman by the name of Thrayse."  A female voice whispered at the door.
"Who wants her?"  Came the voice of a large man.
"I want to employ her."
"Why?"
"I cannot see how that is your business Sir."  The owner of the voice was a small woman, old in her years and human.  In reality, she would have been dead long before she reached the entrance to the desolate place she had entered, but she had a purpose.  The man she had spoken to was a bouncer of sorts, a big burly creature, bursting with muscle under the tight shirt and chaps and he wasn't happy that some simple human had made it passed the gate to the Inn that he protected.  The small woman looked up at him and met his gaze.  "Is she here or not?"  She asked flatly and the man took a step back to get a better view of the woman.
"It depends on what you want with her."  He replied.
"And I told you it is not of your concern Sir.  Is she here or not?"  The woman asked again, more detmermined this time and the bouncer laughed.
"Fair enough."  He replied, "But it's your choice, she doesn't like being disturbed."  And he let the woman pass him.
The Inn was smokey and dusty and it was hard to see.  The woman coughed gently into her sleeve and made hre way further into the old building.  The woman she was looking for wasn't like most hired thugs.  Thrayse was a calculating killer and known by many.  In three seperate realms, she was wanted for murder, treason and theft and should, by all rights be swinging from the nearest tree for the dawn to claim her, but no-one dared cross her.  The small woman kept her head down until she reached the bar, clutching something to her chest under the cloak.  A skinny boy on the other side of the counter looked up and grinned, showing that he was missing his two front teeth at the top.  "What can I do for you?"  He asked politely and got a large wooden cup out for some ale if she wanted it.
"I'm looking for a vampyre named Thrayse."  The small woman replied.  The boy stopped what he was doing and moved out from behind the counter.
"Are you sure you want to see her Miss?  She doesn't like being disturbed." the boy said fearfully, but the woman was undeterred.
"I wish to speak with her please.  Would you kindly show her to me?"  The woman asked.
"I could introduce you if you like Miss.  That way, she may not kill you right off."  The boy said and the woman agreed, giving him her name and he skipped off nervously to a table at the back of the room.
Thrayse was int he process of getting herself as inebriated as possible.  Her search for this so called home of the damned was getting to be impossible and she was still so far away from it.  She had taken up residence in the small port village to rest and make a little money to make her trip there easier.  She'd only been there a few weeks when her reputation caught up with her and already, she was making large sums as a hired killer. Her deep black locks fell about her face, hiding it from view and she was leaned over the table, looking into the jug of ale.  Just as she was about to take another mouthful of the vile liquid, the owner's son approached her. A skinny little runt that should have been drowned at birth according to her.  He moved cautiously towards her and coughed into his hand to get her attention.
"What is it boy?"  She asked coldly and the boy shivered.
"I..er..I mean...There's a woman here that wants to speak with you."  He replied nervously, "She seems intent on speaking with you."
"What is her name?"  Thrayse asked flatly.
"Heather Murtoy."  The boy replied.  Thrayse looked up briefly to see the woman waiting, cloaked and covered.  Best thing really for a place like this.  Instantly, she could see that Miss Murtoy was human, she reeked of it.
"Murtoy."  She said softly, "That name is familiar to me.  Ok, she can see me."
The boy sighed in relief and brought Miss Murtoy over.  The woman immediately sat, instantly making Thrayse growl, but she let it slide for the time being.  Some men on the next table started laughing and cursing, making Heather nervous and she moved the stool around and away from them.
"What do you want Miss Heather Murtoy?"  Thrayse asked, not looking up.
"Well, I would like to employ you for a short while."  Heather replied and opened up her cloak to reveal what she was carrying.  A small, yet heavy pouch of gold.
"What employment?"  Thrayse asked, still not looking up.
"I want something found and I am told that you are worth employing for that purpose."  Heather replied.
"What needs finding?"
"My husband, Lord Calvin Murtoy."  Heather said softly and Thrayse stopped drinking.  Of course, she remembered now.
"Your husband is not lost."  Thrayse said softly, "And your money is of no use to me."  Slowly, she got up out of her seat, giving Heather Murtoy the first and last look at her.  Pale hazel eyes that could sour milk stared at Heather.
"Then, pray tell, where might I find him?"  Heather asked hopefully.  The look she saw in Thrayse's eyes quickly took that hope away again.  "Is he...Is he dead?"
"Yes.  You will find him near the riverbank in a shallow grave.  He fought well for a human, but not well enough to live."  Thrayse said coldly and turned to get her cloak.  Dusk had arrived and she wanted to scout a little for the best route to her destination.  Heather also rose and clutched her cloak about her.
"Were you there when he died Thrayse?  Please, I must know."  She pleaded.
"Yes, I was there.  I dealt the blow that killed him.  His death was hardly worth the coin I was paid.  I would assume he was buried a short time after.  I was not paid for that."  Thrayse replied and made to leave the Inn.  Heather followed, her anger and loss boiling over.  They made it outside before Heather stopped Thrayse and blocked her path.
"Why did you kill him?"  She demanded.
"I was paid to."  Thrayse replied.
"Who paid you?"
"That is not your concern."
"It is my concern!  I'll see you hang for this!"  Heather shouted and drew out a dagger.
"That is the wrong thing to do Heather Murtoy."  Thrayse said slowly and drew out her blade.  Deceit was almost as infamous as Thrayse was and Heather stepped back.
"But why was he to die?  Our son needed his father, I needed my husband.  Why were you paid to kill him?"  Heather whimpered.
"That was not my problem.  I was paid to do a job and I did it, nothing more, nothing less.  Now, if you please, move aside.  Do not rob your son of another parent, they are hard to come by."  Thrayse replied and made to move around the woman.  Heather screamed in hatred and loss and flew at Thrayse.  It took less than a heartbeat to bring the woman to her knees and Thrayse sheathed Deceit again.  A few on-lookers from the Inn whispered amoungst themselves and then went back to whatever they were doing.  Thrayse flicked the edge of her cloak over her side to hide her form and began to walk away from Heather Murtoy.  When the patrons of the Inn emerged from their drinking and desire, they would find Heather Murtoy cut in half and deasd where she knelt with only gravity keeping her in one piece.  Thrayse never looked back and continued on her journey.  It was a long way, but she had all night and she could cover a lot of ground if left alone.

It would be several more days however, before she reached her destination.  The gate loomed above her, the door behind it and the new moon to her back.  Thankfully, it was still late evening and so she had all night to figure out a place to hide if turned away.  Slowly, she made her way to what she hoped would be somewhere new for her and banged on the door with her fist.  As she waited, she turned back her cloak, the evening was warm, revealing hre arms and shoulders.  Save for a rag of cloth tied around her chest to hide her modesty, her top half was naked and the many piercing glittered in the moonlight.............

Heather smiled and leaned into her father, but her unease about having the stranger there was still plain, "The poor girl.  How anyone could mark another human being that way, it's just too awful to think about."  She said.  "The pain that she must have gone through for it.  So you think she's a harem girl then Pappy?  Could she have escaped?  She's come a long way if she has."

Heather stared over the girl again and furrowed her brow.  "If she isn't injured Pappy, why is she still out cold?"...............

James shrugged to his daughter. "I don't know precious... there doesn't appear to be any injuries... there could be something internally wrong with her... or she is exhausted." James finished his supper and smacked his lips. "Meal fit for a king that was sweetie!" He handed her back the empty plate. "Would you go downstairs and get Junior to start washin' the pots? If he argues any I'll come down and sort him out. Gonna watch over our guest for a few more hours until I hit the sack." James smiled lovingly at his daughter...

Heather smiled lovingly and kissed her father's cheek.  "Well, don't you stay up too late Pappy."  She ordered, "Remember, we have to get the wagon loaded for the fur market after church on Sunday."  She kissed his forehead again and took a last look at the sleeping girl.  She still felt uneasy, but from what she could see, the stranger looked harmless enough.  Underfed and exposed to the cold, but not dangerous.  "Yeh right."  She mumbled to herself as she left the guest room with her father's empty plate.

In the kitchen, Heather dumped the wooden plate down next to the wash pot and grinned at James Jr.  "Hmmm, guess who has wash duty tonight."  She said coyly to him and went to Samuel to change and feed him before bedtime.  That was one chore she could easily get out of now and she relished every moment of it.

Thrayse gave a soft groan and turned her head slightly, not entirely sure where she was, or how she had got there.  Her surroundings felt soft, warm, homely even, but for all her efforts, she couldn't make connection enough to wake completely............

James Jr had his feet up on the table and was leaning back in his chair as he flipped through a book. He grunted in response to Heather speaking then what she was saying dawned on him. "Aw not again!" He moaned and dropped the book down on the table. "How come I gotta do that every darn night? This sucks!" He went to the sink and turned the taps on.....

James sighed almost in relief when the girl moved slightly... at least it confirmed she was still alive. She had such a pale complexion and had hardly moved since he had found her. "A good night to all..." James whispered softly, leaning back in his chair and holding his hands together. he lowered his head and made a silent prayer. Afterwards he settled deeper into the chair determined to spend the night in it incase the girl awoke. he was asleep in no time...

Heather laughed as she quickly changed the towling on Sauel's plump rump and then sat in her small nursing chair to feed him.  "Well, I do everything else around this house, so it's only fair."  She chided with a giggle and flipped a small rag towel over her shoulder to hide her breast while she fed her son.  Aruond ehr father, she never bothered, but around James Jr, she always got some indignant and childish response to showing her breast openly.  Slowly, her chair began to rock back and forth and she relaxed.

Thrayse gave another small groan, followed by a coarse whisper.  "Save your prayers Holyman.  Your Gods have nothing to do with me."  She still couldn't open her eyes and her head and body still ached with pain, but she was starting to regain her senses.........

Co post between Thrayse and James Sr

James almost leaped out of his skin when he was roused by the voice of the girl. He sat up straight and put a hand to his chest. "Well I'll be, welcome back." He cocked his head as he thought about her words for a moment. "Even so, the Lord God watch-eth over us all. Are you okay? Do you need something?"

Thrayse slowly turned her head towards the male voice, but it still hurt too much to open her eyes. "Your God hasn't watched over me for many a year Holyman, so please, don't waste your time with prayers." She gruffed coarsely. "I feel like Death, where am I?".......

"You're in my small humble home Miss." James eased himself out of the chair and stood beside the bed. He looked down at her. "Care to explain what you were doing sneaking around my barn?"

Thrayse groaned again and dared to open her eyes. Even the smallest light from the nearby candle was blinding and she shielded her eyes from it. "In your home?" She asked, "You're a brave one. I was hiding."........

James sucked his teeth and folded his arms warily. "Hiding?" The last thing he wanted was trouble for his family. "From whom? Are you a run away slave? And as for brave..." He laughed quietly. "I doubt a young lady such as yourself could do much damage to anyone.... least of all a good Christian family that has gone out of it's way to take you in and care for you."

"From the Lord." Thrayse told him, "And I am no slave. You should be more careful whom you take into your home Holyman. Not all are as they seem." She tried to move off the bed, but her weakened state and the pain still tormenting her body and mind, she fell after only a few inches...........

James was quick to crouch down beside the bed and put a firm, yet gentle hand on her shoulder. She spoke of the Lord and James almost shuddered... he didn't want to mess with the mysterious and damned Ravandil family... which son of Ravandil actually ruled these parts now a days anyway? James had only been a boy when the village had last seen a Lord from the castle. "I'm not a holy man, I'm just a farmer who believes in something greater than himself..." he smiled gently. "And I believe no matter how bad things get we will be given the strength to endure. Now rest and recover, you are safe here."

Thrayse grunted, having no choice but to accept this man's help, "But you are not." She told him, her eyes lifting to meet his. The ice cold hazel shone into his eyes and she touched his hand with one of her own. He would feel just how cold her skin was to the touch, how cold it had been for almost a century. "I will collect my things and leave." She said at length..........

James shivered slightly at just how cold her touch was. At first he thought it had been the icy air outside that had made her flesh feel like ice, but she had been in this warm bed for hours and not even warmed an inch. He gulped. "Are you a... vampyre?"

Thrayse smiled, a very rare occurance, and even rarer was that it was a real smile. It showed her fangs without even having to say a word. "And you are a mere mortal." She told him softly..........

James' heart beat furiously in his chest as he broke away from her suddenly. He turned to his coat hanging behind the door and pulled a knife from an inside pocket. "You must... die fiend! In the name of God!" He raised the knife above her chest but faltered. He couldn't do it. Years ago yes, but not now after all he had learned through God... perhaps the saviour had sent this female to his home as a sign that even something as damned as a vampyre could be saved. He lowered the knife and dropped his head. His black hair fell forward to hide his face in shadow. "Forgive me." He said quietly. "When last a vampyre came to my home the life of my wife was taken. You personally have done me no ill so I must not be prejudice to you."

Thrayse never even so much as blinked as the farmer held a blade over her, ready to strike, but he hesitated. Now this was somethign Thrayse was not used to. Hiding her confusion and somewhat unease about the situation behind layers and layers of bravado, she eased herself to her feet and leaned on the bedpost to stand. "As this disgusting race invariably does." She said, agreeing with his words over losing his wife. "I lost as much as you, if not more to the Vampyre race, including myself, but you need not fear me, I have no ill against you."........

James nodded. "You may stay as long as you need, provided you help out a little with the chores. My children and the townsfolk must not know what you are however... even now witch hunters reside in our village and they would be eager to do you harm." James looked at her and nodded to her words. "Understood, I have faith in you."

"Your faith is misplaced Farmer." She said flatly, "And I will be gone as soon as I have my things." She moved away from the bed slightly, but still in so much pain, she faltered again and collapsed on her knees. "Ahhhh!" She yelped, "Get out of my head!" The memories and visions were still as unbearable as before..........

James winced slightly as he watched her fall to her knees. He reached down and grabbed her shoulders, helping her back up to sit on the edge of the bed. "I don't think you are in any shape to go anywhere just yet."
Suddenly there came a knock at the door and James Jr's voice called through to them. "Pappy? Everything okay?" "
Uh... yeah thanks son."
James Jr entered the room and froze when he saw Thrayse sitting on the edge of the bed. "Uh.. hello." He said, turning to his father.
James Sr said. "She just awoke, from a bad dream far as I can reckon... ain't that right young miss?" James asked, turning to Thrayse.

Thrayse growled and looked up briefly to see the young man of the house staring at her. Her cold eyes bore into him. "You are in danger to keep me here Farmer." She whispered hoarsely, "You and your kin." It was then that Thrayse sensed another in the house, young, young enough to still be pure of man's conditioning and torment, a child, infant. This brought Thrayse to her feet. The scent of the child, so much like her own son. It was too painful to bear. "You must let me leave."........

James Jr looked in bewilderment from Thrayse to his father. "She's lost it." He said, throwing up his hands then being waved off by his father.
After the boy had left James turned back to Thrayse. "Then leave if you can... though I doubt you eill get more than five steps. "Danger you may be... but my charity doesn't just extend to the easily helped... it extends to everyone. Take it or leave it."

Thrayse watched the boy leave, "Lost it indeed." She repeated. "I lost it over 80 years ago Farmer's boy." Her head snapped back to the Senior, "You have no comprehention the danger I could bring your family." She said softly, "And when Rivandil connects to me again, it will not just be me that you have to worry about. Do you understand me at all? I am not in the habit of killing for sport Farmer, but things can change. Where are my belongings?"...........

"Where ever you left them." James replied. "All I discovered in the barn tonight has been brought to this room. Please reconsider my offer and at least find peace for the night?"

Thrayse looked around the room quickly, but could not find her satchel or weaponry, "Then I will find it myself." She said. She looked up at him as she passed him, taking in every line from his square jaw and strong shoulders to his large back and thick legs. "And come the morn, you will leave me to burn, is that it? Not all races on this earth are graced by the beauty of the dawn Farmer. It  would do you well to remember that." She staggered towards the door and then down the stairs, leaning heavily against the wall as she went.........

James followed her slowly. "You could spend the entire day in that room." He offered her quietly. "All would think you needed to recover your strength while you secretly escape the sun. I cannot force you to stay, but my offer is always open...okay? just don't let Junior or Heather know what you are."

"They will know, just as you knew." She replied emptily. "All know Vampyre when they see them, you mortals feel us like a plague in your hearts and a plague we are. A plague on this earth that can never be destroyed." She entered the main room and came face to face with a pale looking Heather. "Pappy?" She asked, terrified. Thrayse stared at Heather for a heartbeat, but her eyes were soon drawn to the young babe in her arms. A boy-child and she couldn't move suddenly, entranced by the child, utterly lost to him.........

James followed Thrayse into the main room where the vampyre and his daughter were facing eachother. "Okay, I think we should all calm down a second." He said quietly. He offered Thrayse a seat. "Heather hun, where's junior?"
"Right here pappy." James Jr said, stepping out of the kitchen with his arms folded. "Whats up?"
James notcied that Thrayse hadn't sat down yet. "Please, everyone sit down a second." He sighed, wondering how his children wopuld react to the news that a vampyre was in their home...

Thrayse continued to stare at the baby boy as Heather moved back, covering him with her arms.  "Don't?"  The vampyre suddenly asked, "Please?  Let me see him?"  She took a step forward, ignoring James and the young man.  Her eyes were firmly on the babe in Heather's arms.  Heather looked frighteningly at her father.  "Please?"  Thrayse asked again.  "He looks so much like Dimittri, so handsome."  Her head tilted to the side and she looked almost human for the first time that century.............

James gulped and broke out in a sweat. He wondered what spell seemed to have taken hold of the vampyre. He couldn't guess if she was being affectionate to the baby or if she was making a play to bring harm to it.
James Jr scoffed and threw up his arms. "I've had enough of this... she's a vampyre ain't she pappy?" He glared at his father. "Don't you remember what happened to mother? It's real stupid to let one of them blood suckers into our home again... you want Heather to loose her life this time?"
"Watch your mouth boy!" James snapped. "Whatever her race this lady is our guest."
James Jr laughed again. "I don't see no lady." Then he walked out to go and hang out in the barn.

James sighed and rubbed his temples as he followed Thrayse and Heather. "Heather baby It's okay, let her see your child. She wn't harm him... will you?"

Elsewhere...

A crystal cut wine glass flew through the air and smashed loudly against the wall above the huge fireplace. The thick dark red contents splashed across the rug and the stone floor. Giovanni Ravandil was in a blood rage but what Bayen found most uncomfortable- while he stood behind his Lord's chair- was that the ancient vampyre was laughing. The huge bear of a man stood silent and as unreadable as ever, his small brown cap pulled down tightly over his head. Giovanni laughed and shook in his chair, his fingers gripping the arm rests until his knuckles went bone white. "you thought to protect me by helping the little assassin escape my domain." Giovanni said, it was not a question.

Bayen shifted uncomfortably and nodded. "Aye Lord."

Giovanni turned round in his chair to face him with an evil grin. "Then you well know you should pay with your life for this grave insult and betrayal to your master."

Bayen clenched his jaw and nodded grimly. "Yes Lord."

Giovanni rose from his chair and went to Bayen. His dark handsome features looked as comforting as a grave stone and as cunning as a most vicious predator. "You have one chance to redeem yourself. Follow her scent, bring her back here... deal with any of the peasants that might have aided her as you see fit. Bayen nodded and backstepped into the sahdows... a moment later a huge towering bear could be seemed leaving the castle and heading for the village.

Thrayse stood ramrod straight as James Jr mouthed off about her unfortunate blood and growled, but her eyes never left the baby in Heather's arms.  When James Snr asked if she would hurt the infant, she shook her head, "No."  She said, "I would never harm a child."  At that, Heather uncovered her son's face and Thrayse all but melted.  "He's so handsome."  She sighed longingly, "So handsome."  Had the vampyre the ability to cry, she would have.  Her eyes lifted to Heather finally and she gave a small smile.  "Raise him to be a strong loving man."  She pleaded, "Love him with every thread of your being."  Heather looked at her oddly and then nodded.  Thrayse nodded in return and then made for the door.  "I am sorry to have shamed your house Sir.  I will shame it no longer."  She gave the man a short bow and opened the door to leave.  James Jr was right, it was a mistake her being in that house.
Quickly, she made her way to the barn to look for her belongings and then she would leave again and get out of this realm, or at least far enough away so that he still aching pain in her head died away.  She opened the barn door and went in........

James sighed and rubbed his eye when the vampyre bowed to him and left. He felt like trying to say something to stop her or at least to buy himself some time to think up something better to say... no sound left his lips before he turned away and went to brood in the kitchen....

James Jr had gone to the barn after leaving the house and kicked a hay stack over in anger. The teenager was hot tempered and couldn't understand why his father would let a vampyre stay in their home without telling him. He sat himself down on the over turned haystack and stuck his fingers into his arm pits as he folded his arms and sulked. He saw something on the floor that made him frown... it was a travel pack. "Must belong to that blood-suck---" He saw the sword and quickly picked the items up. he'd be able to get a fair penny for these. "Pay us back for what you things did to mum... and for your stay..." He hid the things in the loft above the barn and had just come back down when the creature herself arrived. He snorted and sat back down on the hay stack. "What you want?" He asked her.

Thrayse stood tall, but it was clear she was hsaken.  "I've come to collect my things and then leave young Sir.  I want no trouble from you."  She replied calmly and went to where she last remembered being in the barn.  After a quick search of that space, she then started hunting around near to the stall she had collapsed in.  "Have you seen my pack at all young Sir?"  She asked cautiously, "It is brown leather with green toggles and it has a katana tied to the back of it."  She hoped he had seen it for she wanted to be gone as soon as possible.......

James shrugged. "Might have. Though if it's left in my barn it's mine..." he yawned as casually as he could manage with a vampire being in such close proximity to him and smiled cheekily at her. "How much you want them back?"

Thrayse stopped her searching and stood up again.  "Young Sir, if you have seen my things, I ask you very nicely to give them back."  She said coldly.  "They are not toys, nor things for your amusement and I do not wish to begin my journey with blood on my hands."  How quickly she could turn a request into a threat, it was like second nature.  "Now I'll ask you to give them back.".........

CO Post between Thrayse and James Jr

james beaming at Thrayse. "True, that they ain't that they ain't..." He said. He stuck a piece of straw in his mouth and started chewing. "YOU on the other hand...you could be quite amusin' I bet..."

Thrayse growled low in her throat. "I'll only ask you again once boy. Where are my things?" She was fast losing patience.......

"What you gonna do? Attack me? Kill me?" James snorted. "Knew you blood-suckers were all alike... one of you should pay for what got got done to mother. One of them like you.."

Thrayse growled even harder, "I had nothing to do with your mother boy." She snapped, "I kill only for coin and those that do me wrong." She was on him in a flash, but not yet touching him, "Where is my pack?"..........

James gulped and a flicker of fear flashed across his eyes when Thrayse was suddenly on him. He fought the urge to yelp and stopped himself from falling backwards off the hay stack. He put his hands up and said. "Relax! relax! I only want'ya to do something for me and i'll give you back your stuff... you want something I got, you got something I want... get me?"

Thrayse snapped her jaws at him to make him jump and then backed off. "What do you want in return?" She asked.........

James eyed her warily. The only thing that was keeping him from running away in terror was that he assumed two things.... 1, she hadn't shown any hostility yet so she might be safe to play with. 2, he had heard his dad saying something about her looking like a harem girl.... James' curiousity and his hormones were getting the better of him. "Just a good old fasioned roll in the hay?"

"A roll in the what?" Thrayse hissed........

James laughed uneasily. "Probably a few hundred years old and you don't know about the birds and the bees..." he turned his face to the roof and shook his head as if scolding a naughty god. "How can I put this better... your beautiful... i'm good looking... we could have some fun is all i'm saying."

Thrayse curled her fists tight, "I know exactly what you're talking about boy." She snapped, "And I'd rather catch a tan, get it? Now the the f**k is my pack?!".........

James was loosing his confidence fast. "Feisty one ain't ya?" He said and shuffled backwards slightly. "Not just a kiss maybe? Not much to ask in return for the help of some nice village folk?"

Thrayse advanced as the boy backed away, "You and your family are lucky you're still breathing for removing me from where I fell!" She snapped, "I never asked nor wanted yor help and now I'm leaving to save you from further suffering. Now where is my pack!" She was really losing her temper now and grabbed the boy by his throat...........

James yelped as she grabbed him, all confidence lost now. He slapped at her arms in panic. "Let me go I'll tell you!" As james tried to put up a weak struggle there was a deep rumbling growl from outside trhe barn and a huge lumbering shadow was begining to struggle ints huge bulk into the barn. Thrayse had her back to it so james saw it first. He went limp in her arms and suddenly screamed...

Thrayse was about to shake the very life out of James when she saw the fear in his face and he went limp. "What the hell?" She questioned and then smelled something. It made her bristle. "I know that presence." She whispered and dropped James on the ground in a heap. Sowly, she turned about and stared at the advancing presence. "Now hold on." Thrayse began..........

Bayen glared at the vampyre. "I'd kill you if I could thrayse..." He said angrily. "But the master is in my head... he knew... he knows everything and he wants you back." The bear opened his jaws wide and roared loud enough to shake the walls. he raised himself on his two tree-trunksih legs and came at her...

Thrayse backed off quickly towards the far side of the barn, "And I'd gladly oblige also." She said, "But you were theone that let me go inthe first place."........

Bayen growled and cracked his neck. His eyes had an unnatural red glint about them. "He's inside me... He'll give me a fate worse than death unless I take you back to him... It was a foolish idea... he loves you and would never stop hunting you if you tried to flee." he turned his great shaggy head towards the shaking James.

Thrayse growled, "And what exactly would he know of love?" She hissed, distracted him from the boy, "And what if your fate is death either way?"..........

"He knows more about love than anyone..." bayen growled. "Enough talk... you leave with me now or I kill your new friends."

"They're not my friends Bayen." Thrayse hissed, slowly moving abut the barn to gain the best advantage, "And you know very well I can't let you take me back there.".......

Bayen made to follow her. "If they're not your friends then..." he said. "Then it doesn't matter if I grab a quick snack... I'm starving." He whirled about on James. The boy shrieked as the bear threw aside the hay stack and grabbed him in its claws.

Normally, Thrayse would have had no trouble in the whelp being eaten. One less ignorant human in the world, but as it was, he was the son of someone who had shown her kindness. "Put him down Bayen, he has nothing to do with this." She ordered.........

Bayen laughed. He didn't put the boy down, he turned and faced her. "Tell you what, we take a trip back to the castle and he gets to live to piss his pants another day?"

Thrayse swallowed hard and wondered whether it was worth letting teh whelp live. In the end, she grunted and folded her arms. "Boy, tell me wher I might find my things and I could just save your miserable life."..........

"Yes the master does want you to have your things." The bear laughed. He shook the boy in his arms. "out with it whelp... where are the furture queen's things?" James pointed upward. "Make more sense kid..."

Thrayse looked up to the loft and quickly shinned up the ladder, finding her pack and katana. She could have hugged them. "Ok, now to deal with tat dumb bear." She whispered and climbed back down again. "Ok, I have my things boy, so I'll repay the favour." She said to him and then looked to Bayen. "Let him go and leave ths family alone and I'll go with you. Deal?"........

Bayen shook his head. "You me and the boy go to the castle and then I let him go. I'll not kill the others if you come with me now."

"No." Trhayse said. "Either you let him go and we go together alone, or you die right here and he gets to wear your pelts for the next winter.".........

Bayen grabbed james' head and pulled. The boy screamed. "Hurry up Thrase, or his head pops off." Bayen turned and lumbered towards the door.

Thrayse grumbled and made her way out of the barn. "Ok, now let him go. I've proved I'm coming."......

Bayen shook his head. "No he comes... then it's up to the master if he gets to go. You'll have to convince Giovanni to spare his life... a good bargining chip for my master don't you think?"

Thrayse slowly drew uot her katana. "Do't make me angry Bayen." She said coldly, "I told you to let the whelp go and you're gonna let the whelp go. Clear?" And she tapped his hide with the tip of her blade. "Just remember the injuries I caused your so called Master. I can do far worse to you and you know it."........
