Here's a little something I thought might be fun, mostly because I feel the need to rant and this is as good a place as any to do it. I'm also hoping this will be read and people will get the not-so-subtle message. So come on, if you have pet peeves, things about RPing, or RPers, that just generally annoy you, or worse, make you angry, go ahead and put them in here. It might help to vent a little bit. So let's see... where shall I begin?

1.) People who come into the chat room when there are only a few people and make comments like "Busy night" or "It must be slow lately."  Just because there's no one there when you get there does not mean no one is ever there, or it's been empty all night. And even if it has been, it's not a good idea to remind me of the fact. Along with this goes comments like "I must have scared them all away." If they aren't there when you get there, how would they know you're coming and have time to leave?

2.) People who don't type out their entire words or use no punctuation. Come on now, would you talk that way in real life? And seriously, how hard is it to type "any" instead of "ne," for example? It's one extra letter! And horrific spelling and/or slang abbreviations, as well as not using punctuation, just makes things harder to read. Did you pass English class in high school? I hope you don't expect to get a job if you fill out an application like that. Likewise, people that feel the need to correct me if I make a typo. Typos happen, and we can't catch all of them. That doesn't mean we're stupid.

3.) People that know the rules, that are warned about them in advance, and specifically choose not to follow them, or ask for exceptions to be made just for them. If it is in the nature of your character to go against the set rules, then the GTI is probably not the place for you. The rules are there for a reason, and I'm not going to tell you it's alright for you to do something that goes against them just because you complain about it. That goes for the hosts too. Having a spiffy little symbol in front of your name doesn't give you the right to break the rules. If anything, you should try even harder to follow them.

4.) People who think they're better than everyone else because they believe they've been RPing longer. Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not going to bow down and kiss your boots because you might have been RPing for more years than I have. That does not make you a better RPer, contrary to what you might think. And even if it did, what right does that give you to tell other people how they should behave, or how they should RP, especially when you are a guest in their "home?"

5.) People who don't make an entrance but get upset when their character is not acknowledged. How are we supposed to know you're there if you don't tell us? Along the same lines, people who know everybody's name without being introduced. Even if you claim your character is a mind reader, they still wouldn't be able to automatically know everyone's name. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't go around thinking "My name is Myranda" all the time, just in case there happens to be a mind reader nearby.

6.) People who don't read the room topic before they go into a chat room. First of all, it's called Golden Tiger INN. That should give you some clue right there. Second of all, it's written right in the topic what the room is for. If you can't read that much, don't expect me to have a high opinion of your reading/possible RPing skills. And what's even worse is when they have the nerve to tell me I'm stupid, or the room is stupid, because they don't like RPing. Well if you'd read the room topic to begin with, you wouldn't have had to see it anyway.

Okay, I think I'm done for now. ~deep breaths~ There. I do feel much better. Who's up next?

I guess, my pet peeves can be summed up easily.  I really, really hate it when people act stupid.  No, there isn't a specific set of actions that I define as "stupid" but I know it when I see it.  I'll give examples of previous things:

1. Using OOC knoweldge IC.  Not like, "I know your character is going to kill mine, so I'm going to kill your's first", well, that bugs the hell out of me, but even smaller things.

2. People interfering with storylines.  That's why any storyline I do is either solid and impossible to be interfered with, or I don't know where it's going, so interferance is negated at it's source.

3. "Enters", "walks in", ect, ect.

Ehh, it's late.  I'll add more as I go.

I can only think of one that REALLY ticks me off.

When someone comes into the chat, makes a couple of OOC comments, then turns around and leaves with,  "I don't feel like RPing tonight."

I'll add more later too.

1.  When someone's character is part of everything under the sun, 1/4 elf, 1/8 Kangaroo, 1/3 Flying Fish! For Christ's Sake pick something or atleast not 18 things!

2.  People who walk into a room clearly marked medieval/fantasy with a bloody phaser, or go riding around on a motorcycle, or worst of all land a bloody spaceship outside and walk in, not so bad now a days but it used to be awful

3.  A descriptive entrance is a nice thing, but if it takes you an hour and a half to get off your horse and in the door you might want to think about trimming it down just a tad bit....

4. Hobgoblins, enough said....

I have a couple more.

1.) People who come in and go straight to a "dark corner", who ignore you when you try to talk to them or just give you a basic on line *nods* for a response and are just generally antisocial, and then complain about being bored because no one will talk to them.

2.) People who don't read the rules but then complain when they break them and get into trouble. Even worse are the ones who do read the rules and then try to convince me to change them because they don't like them.

3.) People who make these big long entrances and then leave before anyone can talk to them. Or even people who make short little entrances and leave right away.

Most of the stuff that I would have said has been said but there is one more thing I can think of...

People who walk in and then sit for a second then decide to come and bud in, in other peoples conversations...You would think that they could read and check to make sure that the character you want to talk with is not talking with someone else. And if they are talking about someone else...you would think they would stay out...but no...they come and bud in...

Sorry for the ramble. I'll stop now...

I have one particular pet peeve that irks me to no end when it comes to rp though it has not happened as much recently but it has happened to a few of my characters in the past. I despise when you get into a fight or a spat with someone and it leads to a battle of sorts. And the battle scene is going rather well and then they play the immortal card when their character is in danger of losing.

NEW ONE!!

When someone comes in, makes their entrance, sees that the two other characters in the room are taking care of a beaten/sick third character and get mad when none of them acknowledge him or her.

Come on!  If someone was dying, how can they expect someone to stop the others from taking care of them just to say, "Hey how are ya?"  Give me a damn break.
