As darkness settled upon the land a hooded figure emerges from the spreading shadows of night and makes her way casually into the inn where all seemed desolate and quiet which suited her  just fine no questioning stares as to why one would roam into an inn so late in the evening. She let her gaze drift over the diminishing crowd as each individual hustled home from a few short hours of drinking and merriment. She sighs inwardly it had been sometime since she was able to roam freely and she hadn't a clue what to do first. As if answering her own question, she winced as the cold sting of metal rubbed against raw flesh. She knelt quietly and lifted her tattered skirt. she had to pry the broken chains loose from her ankles and wrists but she could not do so until she found a place to stay.

She was in agony her whole body ached, she held back a cry of pain by biting her lower lip. She was in rough shape but nothing a little time could not heal. She lowered the hood of her cowl letting it fall lightly against her shoulders.Soft red curls fell down her back, which she quickly tied up with a ribbon. She let her eyes wander over the paintings perched upon the wall as the enticing smell of  food overwhelmed her senses making her mouth water .  Melisande quickly relieved herself of any notion of  actually enjoying the  savory taste of any sustenance she had not the means to pay, so she would be content with the delicious aroma it produced. She had expectations of stumbling upon a place that was perhaps hiring in hopes of earning her keep and mayhaps a room to sleep. She sat quietly down upon a chair bracing her chin within her hands. Without a penny to her name she did not have many choices, but she was not about to roam back into the wilderness when she was so close to civilization the very thing she had been kept from while serving within the mines.

" I'll just rest for a spell, then be on my way."

Melisande sighed  in delight, it felt so good to be off her feet, the soles of her bare feet were starting to blister she had walked a great deal with no more than an hour's rest in between.  After awhile her head began to throb lightly it was the onset of a slight headache. She laid her head within her arms upon the table in order to ease the throbbing in her head. But slowly fatigue took over and she drifted unaware into a light sleep.

~She comes down into the main room of the inn and glances around with a slight smile, one hand resting on her belly which has not yet begun to grow. Noticing someone asleep at a table, she keeps her movements quiet, going the long way around the room to the hearth the stoke the fire. She tosses on a few logs as quickly as possible, blowing on them until they catch from the smoldering flames thatw ere already there.

Nodding to herself in satisfaction, she moves around the edge of the room again to reach the bar, setting water on to boil for a cup of tea to soothe her stomach. She glances at the woman at the table, wondering if she should bring her a blanket, perhaps, then decides to just leave her alone and let her sleep.~

She awoke slowly a small smile played across her  parched rose lips as the warmth from the fire reached her sending a thrill of delight through her chilled body. Lifting her head slowly she took a moment to clear her senses before letting her eyes wander cautiously over the dimly lit room. She had no idea where she was nor how long she had been asleep. She cursed softly to herself she should not have been so careless but there was nothing she could do now and if anyone had intended her harm it would have already occured without her being aware. Not that she had much to be taken she had only the clothes upon her back and those were still intaked. She lifted her hand to where the medallion should have rested and sighed in relief as she felt the smooth etch of the precious gem.

Melisande sensed a presence behind her and turned slowly looking toward the woman in surprise. She stammered softly while quickly jumping to her feet which she immediately regretted as she bit her bottom lip as pain shot up her entire body. She cursed her stupidity once more as she clumsily manuevered toward the door.

" F....forgive m...my intrusion mi'lady I....I  had  not meant to fall asleep  I s...  s..shall go.again pardon."

She turned with a hand resting upon the doorknob in preparation to flee.

~watches the woman and smiles gently, trying to put her at her ease. She knows how uncomfortable it can be to meet new people in a strange environment, especially when someone is nervous to begin with, as this stranger appears to be. She takes a little sip of her tea and sits down on the stool behind the bar, as much for a plact to rest as to put the bar between herself and the woman. The last thing she wants is to be considered some kind of threat~

There's nothing to forgive, miss. This is an inn, after all. Most people prefer to sleep in the beds in the rooms upstairs, but if you're more comfortable with your head on a table, who am I to argue? I'm Myranda. Please, make yourself comfortable. Can I get you something to drink?

~smiles again, watching her closely for some way to comfort her~

There's nothing to be frightened of here. This place is a haven to anyone who needs it. Stay as long as you like.

Melisande studied the woman before her  slowly, she seemed  kind enough. She let her hand drop from the doorknob and eased slowly back to her table and sat. She still felt a bit awkward but some of the tension seemed to leave her body slowly. She was a bit shaky upon her feet so she thought it best if she remained within the inn for a bit more just until she got her wits about her once more.
"Forgive my outburst I am far too skittish for my own good it seems."

" Aye tis quite uncomfortable but I had not meant to fall asleep I merely meant to rest I have traveled a great distance with not much sleep in between."
" Tis a pleasure, I am Melisande and a cup of tea would be lovely."

It was true she had been through quite an ordeal and was a bit rough around the edges but in truth she had nothing to lose should she ask for some assistance. She bit her bottom lip and contemplated for a spell then spoke before thinking it through.

" I would love a roof over my head and some food to fill my belly but I have not the means to pay. I am in search of work and it is not likely one should hire a beggar such as myself. -She fell silent once more biting her bottom lip before speaking again- Forgive me ,miss I tend to babble when nervous."

Melisande fell silent deciding it best to keep her mouth shut for the time being. She managed a soft smile toward the woman then lowered her gaze to her hands.

~smiles and fixes another cup of tea, then brings both cups over to the table, setting the full one down in front of Melisande. She takes the chair opposite the woman and makes herself comfortable, setting her own cup down on the table~

I came here to the inn with nothing to my name bu the clothes I wore. I was taken in and given a home, and I was offered protection from... my former life. Now I own this place, and the least I can do is to help others that come here in the situation I was in.

~sits back and watches the woman a moment, still trying to put her at her ease~

I'll tell you what. We don't charge for room and board here, but if you're not comfortable with that, I could use some help around the inn. I'm having a baby, and I find myself tiring quicker than usual.

Melisande lifted her eyes from her lap and smiled taking the cup of tea slowly into her hands. The genuine warmth  and understanding from the woman beginning to set  her at ease .

" Tis not a pleasant place to come from but it doesn't seem so terrible when accepted with such openness and understanding. I will accept your offer tis only going to get more tiresome and stressful as the pregnancy progresses as I am sure you know and I will try my best to do my part. I am entirely grateful to you for allowing me a chance to repay your kindness, it means a great deal to me."

She lifted the cup to her lips and took a small sip. She settled comfortably within her chair bringing her legs to rest against her chest. She slowly began to push aside the events that led her to this place but it seemed to be fate for she had expected to continue to roam endlessly nor to be accepted so graciously.

" This place exudes such peacefulness and warmth tis very hard to bring myself to leave. It is quite different compared to what I have slept within. But tis not good to dwell upon the past so I shall not. How far along are you if you do not mind me asking. "

Melisande played absently with the frayed ends of her dress the dull ache within her body seemed to have ebbed to the point of nonexistance as she began to feel herself relax and take in her surroundings with a newfound contentment.

~smiles and sips her own tea, relaxing a little herself as the woman seems comforted. It always draws out the motherly side in her when someone needs help of any kind, or perhaps this woman's story, what little she'd told it, just sounds especially familiar.~

A few weeks, I think. I'm not entirely sure. I don't know how far along I was when I found out. I well know the hardships of travelling and searching for a safe, comfortable place to spend the night. I can assure you that this place is both safe and comfortable, and if there's anything you need that you can't find here, the town of New Hope is not far down the road. We do occasionally get troublemakers, of course, but they're dealt with, and I don't allow anyone to harm my guests if I can help it.

She smiles thoughtfully as she sips her tea. She looks to the woman slowly and studies her a bit before speaking softly.

" I have been unable to travel for sometime certain restrictions were set upon me by those that I served. But I have experienced much in the short amount of time that I have existed within this world  far too much for most but I do not regret a single moment because every day that  I  was able to open my eyes and breathe life into my lungs I was grateful. You see I  learned early on that you should not take any moment for granted because you never know when it may be your last So I counted every last precious moment that made such a bleak existance seem far  greater than I could imagine. The scent of food roasting upon a flame, the crackle of the fire as it pushes to stay alive, merely the simple things that most take for granted."

Melisande fell silent realizing she was revealing far too much and babbling excessively. She  chuckled in spite of herself as she took another small sip of tea.

" Forgive me , mi'lady I tend to babble incoherently at times mostly when weary but I could not possibly sleep yet. I have always loved the freedom of traveling to see far off places and never know where you will end up next but there comes a time in life when one must settle and I grow tired  of the road and running from a past that will always haunt me no matter how fast I flee and duck for cover. I can not help who I am I can only grow as a person through all that I have experienced  the good ,the bad and the ugly."

She lifted her  hand and stroked the medallion absent-mindedly as her thoughts began to wonder
backwards in time. She had been a gifted healer at one time before she was imprisoned within the mines and she hoped that she may slowly over time regain her strength so that she may once again practice the healing arts among other talents she held dear at one time or another. Her greatest task at hand was to fully heal her body but she also had to face the reality that she shall never be able to glide within the skies again for her wings were beyond repair the salt had caused decomposition.

Melisande shook away her morbid thoughts  and refocused upon the woman before her. She managed to smile warmly as she regained her concentration.

" Again pardon my mind tends to wander back to certain events in the past. I will need in time some fabric to make myself a few simple dresses  all that I have is this tattered old thing that is better used as a rag.  Is there a fabric store within this  village or shall I need to travel to New Hope? When shall you need me to start ? I am eager to begin. "

((OOC: Sorry for the delayed reply. To let you know, the inn is not in a village. It's off by itself, with the town down the road a bit))

I might have some material stored away here in the back room. You can take a look and see if there's anything you might like. Otherwise, you'll have to go into New Hope. It's a small town, but they have everything you'll need there. For now, if you like, I could lend you something.

((OOC: Not a problem things happen.oh I did not know I am sorry.))

" oh that would be good I mean I do not need something extravagant so if you have some fabric laying about I could gladly make use of that. I do not wish to put you out, you have already been quite kind allowing me into your home."

Melisande smiles softly at Myranda before taking a small sip of her tea. She let her legs fall quietly to the floor crossing her ankles. She flinched slightly as the chains dug into her flesh. She finished the rest of her tea, and looked slowly toward  Myranda.

" Perhaps I should retire and leave you to your thoughts.  If you could guide me to my room I will gladly be on my way."

You're not putting me out. Not at all. The storage room is just down the hall. It's not locked. Help yourself to anything you find. The room keys are behind the bar. Any key that's there is an empty room.

~She notes the flinch and frowns slightly~

Is something the matter?

(Sorry for the delayed response it has been a bit hectic as of late)

Melisande hesitated as if contemplating the situation but she knew that it was best left unsaid for she had babbled about her woes far too much.

" I am just a bit sore from the journey it is nothing  that a good night sleep can not cure. I will rummage through the old fabrics to see if I cannot find something suitable to transform into simple garments. When shall I start  working for you and what duty shall I begin with?"

She leaned lightly upon the chair fiddling absently with a lock of hair. Her focus was on Myranda but her thoughts were elsewhere. She had a lot of mixed emotions that she had yet to sift through and that she would do in time but for right now she needed to focus upon the healing of the body from the abuse it had sustained and this required all of her concentration.

~smiles and gets up from her chair, moving over to the bar and taking a key from a hook. She brings it back and sets it down on the table in front of Melisande~

Why don't you take some time to rest and familiarize yourself with the inn, and to get yourself together. There's no rush for anything, here. Once you're rested from your travels and you have clothes you're comfortable in, we can figure out what you'd like to do. I can always use help keeping things clean and tidy. I'm afraid I become somewhat obsessed with keeping the inn clean when I'm with child. For now, see to yourself. Come and see me if there is anything at all you need and can't find for yourself. I'm never far.

" I thank you for your kindness Myranda it is much appreciated.I shall do as you suggest and when I have rested well I will seek you out and see what I shall start with."

Melisande took the key slowly and then went quietly into the back room to search through the old fabrics.
